Hi!
i've been searching and searching for days and days on all different forums to make up my mind which soundcard or audio interface i would buy, but it didn't help!!!
i just bought myself some alesis 620 active monitors and ofcourse i need a decent soundcard or interface to get the benefits from them!
actually i only need them for this purpose, but an extra input for recording would be handy also
my budget is 200 euro/dollar, don't m-audio me, i heard too much bad things about it. My system is a laptop (xp pro sp2), so pci-cards won't do. If this info is usefull: i use fl studio 6 and ableton live.
Please you techheads, advice me !!!

Check the Tascam US-122L. It is USB and at www.musicstorekoeln.de the price is 159 euros. I have the previous model US-122 for the last three years, never had not even one problem related to the soundcard or its drivers, and i'm never gonna change it unless i need more inputs and outputs.

hi, thanx for the fast reply guys.
Do you have good experience with USB? I thought it might be better with firewire?
I like the Presonus but it's a bit too expencive for now... maybe if i wait a few months... |

usb is ok when youre on a pc - on a mac i would go for a firewire solution - mac developed firewire and its close to the system board - whereas usb is developed by ibm(?) and closer to the system board than firewire...
by the way - if you stay at home pci is best and cheap!
cheers and a nice weekend |

That's very strange. My US-122 worked perfectly with the following hosts : Cubase SX, Acid Pro, Ableton Live, Sonar and Samplitude Pro, all in their latest versions. I never tested it in FL, it's the only host i never installed. Considering the "no problems" status the US-122 gave me when using it with the mentioned hosts, it could be a problem/incompatibility with FL specifically.
Friends of mine also bought and installed the US-122 having different desktop and laptop systems, and they never reported to me any kind of problem with the sound card or its drivers.

I got a offer to buy Behringer FC202 for 140 dollar (995,- Danish kroners) .. Is this card pure crap and I should stay away, or is it ok?
Anyone?

Firewire is necessary to play live, USB is "ok" for studio use.
I say you go with the presonus firebox..anything else is wasting your money.
psytones, I agree, behringer sucks.. |
