When it comes to studio monitors I think it can actually be a better idea to take advice from someone you trust.
It's not easy to judge how good a speaker is for mixing/producing by having a listen in the shop.
If you are looking for the speaker that sounds best in your opinion you are better off going to a hi-fi shop.
Sounding good is not what a studio monitor should be about.

Of course there is also a matter of taste and personally I'm quite fed up with really harsh NS-10 like speakers that is really tiresome to listen to for long periods.
They can often be easy to get a good mix on.
But the ideal, and a bit more rare, is a speaker with a smoother treble that still is easy to make good mixes on.
Tannoy is very good in this respect, and if you can spend more the dynaudios is very good and has exceptional bass for working with electronic music.           (``·.¸(``·.¸(``·.¸¸.·`´)¸.·`´)¸.·`´)

Ridiculous thread, no facts just plain IMHOs with bashing opposite.
Everything depends, room acoustics, your ears, your brain, monitor placements, your placement..... and how you felt once you woke up the motning you listen.

Fact is simple Behringer have good amount of lows which is a mistake to mix on monitors like these. Since mixing is one of dominant parts of mastering and sound designing, you should reconsider your thoughts twise. Of course you can insert EQ on master output to reduce lows, even to make curve based on other monitors curve but again why to buy something you need to EQ while you can buy something that have normal amount of lows at the same time have quite balanced frequency responce graph.

Now my imhos
For price range you looking to 450$, i would advice to check second hand monitors, Tannoy. I don't like these but i don't like even more Behringer and Samson ones.
Of course you need to learn monitor and of course you can produce even with 20$ headphones hell of sound, although your are big boy and need to think yourself what will make you happy and what you need to buy. Listen to all options and buy the ones you like, because you need to work on them not ppl in here.

good luck

Funny thing is that, i had Tannoy Reveal before i had my Behringer, and back then i had muddy bass in my mixes, and now with my new Behringer i have alot better mix with clean tight bass.

Same studio.

behringer you can adjust to the studio setup. you cant do that with tannoy.

if you got to much bass on behringer, just adjust them to fit the room at the backside, thats what i did.

But anyways, the the author of the thread. Go to your local store with some of your tunes/favorite tunes and listen to them all see what you like           www.myspace.com/psypox

to bash behringer is just a very old trend...

instead of listening to everybody here do as Aviad say and go out and listen to some monitors and bring a friend and judge your self...

also if you have the possibillity to bring some monitors home and listen... do it

psypox this is the case, we all have different tastes in how it should sound and how we want to hear that. I glad to hear you know what you do and you like how Behringer sound, personally i have no problem with them at all. I just know that Behringer and M-Audio are low quality products from what ppl say and from what i get experienced with. Tannoy won't be any better but they more accurate(less) if it comes to lows with which many producers more confortable with.

Just to mention, ive reading Sound on Sound magazine, almost each issue where professional reviewers write something about most of monitors, ive never read something subjective there so as never seen any monitor direct comparison, there is no rules.
Moreover i don't really know what the difference between speakers and monitors, and silly remarks like their response is more flat then its better or their have more accurate frequency responses. Genelec does the same systems for home Hi-fi and studio, just the size is different. So think of it.
Nothing really facts, just hard to get proper mix on monitors with much lows, because they make mix unsmooth.

Who died and made you master of monitors? No arguments, pure bashing...great indeed.

Anyhow, I have the behringer 2030A, and I find them quite good at the price. But I will suggest that you take some tunes you find that sound good and take them to your music store and listen to them on the different monitors you can afford. That aside, there are also a lot of great reviews on the net. You should read them instead of asking advice in here, since everyone seems to know best (both with or without arguments, mostly without). But it all comes down to what YOU think of them           *In AjmaGard We Trust*
