so, that's the picture, a killer small room..not too much money to spend.. and samson's monitors are 120 € more, then the behringer's one..
behringer's freq range (they say in the website are 50Hz - 21Khz).
Samson's i couln'd find a tech detail even on samsonstech.com :
--
Samson
Resolv 50a, 5,25" Woofer/1" HT
Magnetic Shielded, 50+25Watts.
Behringer
B 2030A Truth, 6,5/1" / MAI
100/50w, XLR I/O, EQ.
so, is here any guy with experience that used those ?! even if you didn't used them..you can give me a hint..on where to spend the money..if the 120 € are well invested or i can save them for a M-audio Sound Card ?!
thanks and please support your choice with technical facts..that's what i'm looking for..
Stay Fresh!
PS - i suppose behringer's are magnetic shielded too right ? i don't want to fuck my pc display...

i dont know for the quality i have behringer 2031
they have somewhat a littla lack of bass for my taste but still they are great monitor and are the ideal for low budget studio
and keep in mind you have 2x power on the behringer sometime when you mix electronic music its quit fun to see how it sound when you crank the volume ...

I use the behringer truth too.
I think francis is right ,there is a lack of bass on those monitor which can make you put too much bass freqs in your tunes.
That of course can be solved by getting to know this monitors and make sound reference to all kind of other regular speakers.
As he said for a low budget studio they are quite good and serve their purpose.
I don't know about those samson monitors never heard of them but you should check if they have their own power generator amp' like behringer have , because if not you should calculate in the amplifier you need to buy for those monitors to work.
get some other behringer users reviews in here:

hope i helped.

MY monitors placed 10-20cm from the screen and i have no problem with that at all.
BTW one more piece of advice after you read all reveiews and rates about samsong and behringer around the internet and get the general idea , go to the store and listen to them both one after the other with A CD of The artists you like and another one which you think have a good mastering work.
Only then make your last decision.

I got the Samson Resolv 80a very recently cos to me they sounded the clearest and had the best bass end of any monitors around that price 250 pounds and 150 pounds above that. that said the bass is adjustible on them. the only drawback for me is that they are very large and were a nightmare to carry home! Luckily my computer desk is big enough to accomodate them though.
listen to some music you know well in the shop and decide which you like.

A few people commented on the Behringers that they lack bass, but this is not my experience. I had to adjust the bass because they had too much =) And they are magnetically shielded. I'm really content with the Behringers but of course it's always better to buy a pair of Mackies or Genelecs when you can afford them. |
