behringer ... not good for psy!!
i think its maybe better for rap/club music

get a numark dxm06 (the best 2 channel)
or pioneer 600
or something with good sound quality.

Same as Wanka Tanka here. My behringer mixer (ub802) is a good noise-generator and if I turn the knobs, the channels get different volumes on each side. So one side is louder than the other, but which one it is differs. cheap tho.           www.myspace.com/mentris

I have a VMX300 for home djing... i must say that the pre-amp are not that powerfull, especially when you put some vynils: you've got to put the trim knob at max to reach the cd levels...this is very very annoying.
Another thing is that the eq knob don't cut enough, nothing common with my old numark dmx2000.
There are some good killer frequencies taps, but not very user-friendly... The channel faders are ok.
I mainly use to play straight tech-trance so I might need a more "nervous" mixer as my old stuff...Maybe for psy smooth mixes it's ok...

good point is the price...

also own a vmx 300: after 6 months have scratchy noises in the earphones while turning the pfl-main knob(=pfl mix), this apart i don't have other problems like 1 channel higer than other: (@wanka tanka) anyway you will always have cd's which have different levels of volume so it's not really a problem since you always have to check that levels are equal: and the led level volume indicators are meant for that!!
i find good on the vmx 300:
-led indicators dedicated for each channel for quick and easy check of levels
-kill buttons for instant exclusion of frequencies
-good price (will tell you in some years if it's solid too, he he,.....)
-you can set fader curve for each channel on three kinds(hard, mid, smooth) and for crossfader freely with a knob
-you also have a led system for beatmatch cecking but it's totally useless: mixing is done with the ears

@ericcson: if eq knob doesn't cut enough you just push the kill tap....not good for your purposes?

must say it has a distribution of the sound on the three frequency ranges very different from most mixers :
-low freq limit is very high: that allows you in most cases to run a song with the basses of another(also quick jumps from a bass to the other with kill buttons), this is valid for all three freq. ranges
with other mixers if you run channel 1 with high and mid on and with bass off and try to use (only)bass of channel 2 it sounds lame because some of the frequencies that boost the bass are in the mid range: clear?

this different distribution of freq. allows tricks impossible with many other mixers, on the other side is very difficult to pass from a bass to the other fading.

for this reasons behringer mixing is a little bit different than mixing with most other labels

i can't complain about sound quality, maybe too much mid and high, but the job of the dj is sound checking(easily done by adjusting eq knobs) also or not?

@kitnam: i let old rules to my grandmother;-)

hope my post is comprehensible, with this post i'm far from pretzending beeing a hardware expert , heard lot of bad about behringer but won't talk bad just because of mainstream talks bad: just say mi experience, maybe i'm the only lucky one with a almost proper working behringer, he he
,(maybe a little more solid knobs wouldn't be bad)

, hope this helps you with choice, anyway i wouldn't buy a mixer without a 100% frequency kill function, pfl mix and dedicated level led for each channel, many things may seem useless but when you're in the mix it's easier and you can concentrate on the essential the music.

bye

imo you always hear behringer
if you want to use it for some djing or live gigs and u want a cheap mixer, buy the behringer, but if you want to use it for recording, look for another one
