As obvious from my 100000000000 posts, I am new to this game.....

I need to find a soundcard to use..... I am looking now at the 1010LT by m-audio

is this really nessacary? I am looking to use only one keyboard hooked to the cubase sequencer..... are there any cheaper alternatives, or am i wasting money if i go for cheaper (bcs i will need to upgrade)

What are your thoughts on the 1010lt

1010 is ten outs and ten ins....

you definetelly won't need so much....

for much cheaper you can get:

m audio audiophile: 2 ins, 2 outs (wich means stereo in and out...) , 1 midi in, 1 midi out

or

delta 410 (not the firewire, thats more expensive)
4 ins, 10 outs, no midi...(however if u get a midi joystick cable you can get midi in and out from you joystick port in the motherboard...)

Both these I just said have delta engine, the same as the delta 1010, but just less ins and outs...

They also work in paralel, so u can have more than 1, (for eg, if u get the audiophile, but later you need more ins and outs, u can add a 410...)

I think the Audiophile pci is costing something like £100 in uk now...very cheap, definetelly worth it , and the 410Pci is also cheap

My advice for u is:

1) don't go for the cheapest one because sometime later you will have to upgrade, but also dont go for the most expensive one because u will not need all of that, IMO a Delta 66 or a Gina will do a very nice job.

2) look for second hand sound cards, I got my delta 66 for less than half price from sound on sound adverts and it is in perfect condition.

3) its better to buy a less expensive soundcard and a more expensive monitors           "Great things are only possible with outrageous requests." Thea Alexander

aloah ron...

about same-engine on sc:
i m not shure about this...at the page it is written that lt1010 can run @ 1 ms latency while audiophile has 4ms...hmm...also snr is different ( a point for the audiophile )
...u know that i m an rme-user, so i can t give some "realistic" thoughts =(-;

audiophile sucks at latency

I don't think so,

I had the m-audio 410- works gre8- no latency if you working with the ASIO driver

anyway i suggest you buy 2nd hand sound card to begin until you'll know what your needs,

SuperGlue, sorry but totally disagree with what u say about audiophile...

I've worked with an audiophile for 2 years, and, apart from its low resources (only 2ins + 2outs),

Never had any click or noises recording

Working fine at low latencies

Midi is a bit delayed, but that happens in almost every soundcard, its just a matter of balancing the midi settings right in sequencer and its fine also, for example, I have my midi set to play with a delay value of (-68) in my sequencer, the value I found to be more on time, and its right on spot

Of course, there are much better ones, but I think is a very good first time buy...very reliable I would say from my experience.

About using the same engine as the other deltas, thats just what I heard, don't know any technical info about it, but I've worked with other delta cards and noticed nothing diferent...of course, many things are very relative to compare

coz if delta have clean outs , clean recording , zero latency and same DSP as Input mentioned so why it cost less in twise than rme ?

1st superglue, if i'm not wrong in a previous post regarding fruityloops u said that the price is not important so you should not say this now because it serve your opinion,

anyway you also said:

Fluo some family member of mine is pro sound recorder for many known israeli bands and he used it so i trust his words

it's gre8 you trust his words but here there's at least two peoples who owned the sound card and telling that he's working fine with low latency and without clicks and plicks-

also Arie(Molecular) have delta66 and i think that if this card had so many problems then few releases was not being released by him,

anyway it's a matter of taste and DJ_Chorman only want a suggestion for sound card to start with so what's the importance of this conversation for him?

I re-read your posts superglue, but couldn't quite get your point....

Don't agree that any m-audio product can be compared to a creative product, and definetelly don't agree it looses to audigy...and besides, they aim for totally diferent types of consumer...but any way, as you said, thats a bit of topic...

Anyway, Chorman point was about cheap and effective sound card, many artists work with delta soundcards and many albums have been writen in delta soundcards, you can get it cheap, and as you said, and it will take quite some time to find the need for something more.

Yes, there is rme and many other better, I'm not very interested in going into technical tests to know exatly why, but is much more expensive and a begginer won't even know the diference
