Ok so I am just starting to DJ......
i need to find equipment.....
CD scratch or vinyl?????
vinyl seems way way too expensive.... what if i get cd scratch, and just do cds...... until i get money lost from equipment i on't know if i will even have money to BUY music!!!
(basically what i'm asking: is it respectable to preform live infront of 1000's of people with cdj-100/800/1000
(not that i think that i will get big, but its a pain to switch from cd to vynil or back)
is looping important?, and do i need 2 decks + 2 dual cd player??
next comes the mixer........ what mixer do you suggest thats in $200 us range with frequency kills...... (ones that work please haha) i think i need 3 or 4 channel, 2 for decks like i said, and one or two for extra cd/effects/laptop????
and for studio monitor....... what is small and good..... i'm going to university dorms soon....
as for production..... i need something that will work on laptop, i can only afford maybe one mini synthesis........ i heared about Cubase/Logic/Sonar as software...... please explain what they do!!!!! do they record? (i'm really lost)
what are the sound filters that supposedly the software does not have?
and how will i record my music.......
Please answer there thoroughly......

So many questions, even more answers...
If I were you, i'd start with either production or DJ'ing, but not both on the same time when you start from scratch. Especially when you're a beginning student at the university...(it takes a whole lot of time to be any good at both)
I would search the web toroughly before asking a thousand questions at the same time.
good luck! |

wow, huje questions...
try going around the music creation posts that will hepl u for sure...
my recomendations...
cds not vinil (much more trance selection nowadays)
monitors - depends a lot on budjet...
and cubase and logic (i use logic) are sequencers, you write the music there, you record the music there, well...its like a virtual sound studio...
my advice is 4 u to go and buy the essential, from then on you'll start to see what u need more yourself.
if u have mac, i would definetelly recomend logic, I have logic 5.5 for pc, and im thinking changing to mac just to keep using logic, i just love it! lol
