What !!!!!!!!!

Beatport v 3.0 has loaded. But the prices have changed and are fucking stupid.

I have to pay £1.49 or £1.99 a track now + £1 wav charge.

YES thats right !!! STERLING. Over £5 for 2 Wavs. Used to be $1.49 or $1.99 + $1 for wav charge. The prices for me have nearly fucking doubled !

Twats. They have priced themselves out of the market. It now officially cheaper to buy cd releases than buy music digitally via Beatport.

----------

Obviously, I am based in the UK - the site knows this when I connect and shows the prices in UK Pounds £. I am very interested to hear if the prices have gone up for you guys in Europe / Israel. Please log in and let me know!

And if there's any one here from the US can you log in to see if your prices have gone up too. I would very much appreciate it.

10 tracks now cost me over £20. If this is intentional I hope Beatport rot in hell !!!

I have sent them an e-mail. I'm not happy. I bought two tracks earlier without realising how much I was paying for them. They made no effort to advertise a rise in prices. I hope its all a big mistake.

Any other good download sites for prog / minimal / electro that do .wav's?

Sorry to rant. Please let me know of your experiences.

Why pay such huge money for mp3s when there are netlabels that give out lots of music for free.

Here is the reply from Beatport. They obviously don't want any customers in the UK.

"
We appreciate your continued support and value each and every one of you who have been with us during the growth of our industry. We wanted to take the time to inform you about the price changes here at Beatport. Due entirely to your continued support, Beatport has become the global leader in digital dance music. However, as a global site – our company is forced to keep tabs on international changes in currency exchange rates and the influence of our international partners. In response to this trend, we must make every effort to strike a balance between the needs of our label partners and that of our customers. If Beatport is to continue providing our customers with the best new tracks from all over the world, we must take a global position in regards to pricing structure. In order to provide a better range of content and premium formats, Beatport prices have been adjusted to reflect market pricing in two of our major territories, UK and Europe.

UK is now priced in Pound Sterling:

1.£1.29 for general release

2.£ 1.49 for new release

3.£1.99 for exclusive release and classics

Europe is now priced in Eurodollars:

1.1.49 for general release

2.1.99 for new release

3.2.49 for exclusive release and classics

We are committed to making our site the best digital dance music buying experience on the planet. In closing, we sincerely hope to maintain each and every one of you as a valued customer. However, we must keep our international partner’s needs in mind as well.

Thanks,
The Beatport staff"

I am absolutely distgusted.

SEE YA LATER BEATPORT. YOU ARE GOING TO LOOSE A LOT OF TRADE.

£22.41 for a CD of WAV's ????? DON'T MAKE ME LAUGH.

AND WHILE I'M AT IT, WHY DO YOU THINK PEOPLE IN EUROPE USE EURODOLLARS ???

THEY ARE CALLED EURO'S YOU MUPPETS!

I GIVE UP.

It's a shame as i was generally buying much more music (not only psy)

I think they should just drop the WAV charge.

damn.. that really sucks.. but on the flip side of things, you UK people get TONS of exclusive music that we are not even allowed to buy from the site (that too is troublesome) ..

I buy some times from beatport, but more and more its a pain in the arse to have to burn and then identify all the CD's i make..

I hear your pain my friend. I have 1000's of tracks and have to burn at least 5 cd's before every gig. A real pain in the arse !

I also agree with the restrictions problem. We are also affected in the UK. I can't download stuff from Feed Me records / Vapour Records / Mastronic etc ... Annoying isn't it? Especially when I can buy 12" from these labels if I so desire.

My take is like this. If they dont want me to donwload the tracks - I wont and I wont care. It is themselves they are hurting by placing these restrictions, not me. There are always better tracks out there.

Clown - I'm intrigued. Which lables are restricted for you?
