Hi everyone,
I was wondering what would be the easiest way for me to beatmatch, considering that I have a 50% (especially high frequencies) audition loss in my left ear (yeah, seems like my passion doesn't listen to logic, uh?).
I tried the method consisting of listening to one input via the headphones and the other via audio monitors, but I find it to be extremely difficult...
Thanks for your answers ! |

Easiest way to beatmatch without the use of your ears might be to use software like Virtual DJ or Ableton that can sync your songs for you. Then you can turn your attention to being creative with your mixing.
Personally, I don't consider using software to auto-beatmatch a cheat. Anyone can beatmatch with some dedication, the real skill is in dropping tracks at the right time, and carefully selecting the myriad of creative opportunities presented with modern software and hardware.
Enjoy your passion and don't let your loss deny you that pleasure |

Just don't have "split cue" and you should be able to mix in headphones fine? |

The idea with the software is not so good because although it syncs the tracks its very different from what you hear....even if they look like running alike....better try with the headphones....

ya headphones are always the best option for syncronizin and mixin two beats coz u hear u catch and u match ...but softwares may help in basic part as visual sync that we can see and then hear that it has been done....anyhow headphone stuff rox

Depending on the mixer you can get both channels in each ear. Some, like the pioneer djm 400 split cue automatically. I would suggest just using a laptop program like Traktor DJ or Ableton to beatmatch for you since people with full hearing do it anyway you atleast have a good excuse to be lazy (not cheat ). Cool to hear (no pun intended) that you still want to pursue mixing!

I realy like the scenes with the cocaine-monster. great way to make a drug-problem visible in pictures. it also contains the mood of something like a broken party dream (the butterfly wings, and the absurd barby pink magic-staff)

Wow, thanks a lot for all the answers
I already have some experience with software, but I really want to learn of to do it with hardware setup, I have a relly basic mixer and two CDJ-400, I find that using them is much more fun for me.
So is it ok to have both channels coming in my hearphones, without splitting the sound (left channel on the left side of the headphones, right channel on the right) ? That's what I was currently doing, but I was wondering if this method could be too limited or whatevah... |

i would say yes, don't split. both channels directly into your good ear. should work. |

I usually just let the cup hang off of one of my ears about 1/2 way so I can hear the track I'm cueing and the track that is playing at the same time in the same ear, it actually works pretty well.
