Hey I won't intrude into such a problem (as I am a "simple" freaker - I liked the expression a lot, thank U > never forget that we "simple" people finally decide who will be the "big stars" or not), but I have just admired the way Detox stayed cool and clear... because some posters here had some really bad words against him...
The bizness with "dirtying a name" is quite unfair because U knew that they would try something to solve the problem... It was like a trick of business sharks.
I hope such things won't become usual on this forum.
Let's return to the Source...... Music !

menog, daniel chill out, u so angry and nervous, u can write here in much more chilling way.
as elysium said, u can't know how many copies those shops bought.
sorry, but idea about 2 months i got after reading "2 months of studio working", u didn't mentioned about 6 in your own studio... YES, THAT'S CLEAR MENOG.

Yossi royalties from 600 copies are still money indeed but as you already know a label must first make a cover up for the advance money that gave to the artist and then pay the royalties.
Menog you talked with John on the phone and from what i see everything is sorted out in one way or another.Glad to hear that.
Glad also to see that you stopped replying with big caps and that you finnally realised that the 2000 copies that you were talking about is not real numbers,its very sad though to hear that your friends cant buy your album from the net,but this ofcourse has to do with distribution problems as you can easily understand...
Some nice words by Prospect and Elysium Project who know how the scene works.

Yes, well, if the artist is payed 1500 euro in advance, and the album sells 600 copies...dont expect too big royalties my friend...if i do my math here the 1500 euro is already more than the album will ever make.Its not free to manufacture 2000 CD`s and market them... |

...and i would like to add that the artist is not always the one that loses in if the album sells badly, the label pays the advance and pays for the manufacturing of the product, promotes it...if it doesnt sell the label loses a lot of money! |

In this scene thats not necessarily the case.I can ofcourse only speak for my own label and for the few labels thats policies im aware of, but its not totally uncommon to make a 50/50 deal with the artist, after all the expenses have been paid the money is split. |

well... about royalties, u dont have a rule for it, its all about the contract.
if an advance payment + royalite... no matter how much %
then it should be paid, even if the salls dont cover the advanced payment.
u just need to follow the contract... thats why it made for
