...from U-HE!!!!

Its part of the Berlin Modular project, modular patch cable interface, with a focus on FM. Can be super-spaghetti-patched. Feels like late-stage beta. Basically on par for U-He in every respect.

patches already available from the U-He archive http://www.u-he.com/PatchLib/bazille.html

Which is why i kicked myself for finding it only a week or 2 ago...

But I searched and didnt find any threads about it, so...

Heres a thread

I was just excited to find a free, patch-cabled U-He modular. Berlin Modular is going to be AWESOME

So have you used it much?           .

nope never used it much, lately i use it more but i dont know why the sound don t really catch me,i always have problem with plugins oscillator sound but specially the one in some u-he synth.. they could be so good if the osc were more raw analog sounding..but it s just taste... and maybe i need to learn it deeper... but yes it s amazing it s free for now..

I guess under all the spaghetti its an FM synth, personally I don't use FM sounds unless I specifically want FM sound (except Operator, Ive used that for most everything), I kinda feel that FM sound isn't flexible enough for general-purpose bread-n-butter. FM is great for the sounds it does well though

I wish Bazille had a manual, it would be nice to know the tricks (ACE has some tricks that I never would have guessed). Also I wish it received program changes so I could use it live.

Im just a big fan of both U-He and modular patching, so a free plug that is both is like a free blowjob           .

Have you tried FM8 by Native-Instruments?
I think that's one hell of a flexible synth.

I lost a good amount of my life learning FM techniques with FM8 And I surely agree that its flexible, if one wanted to it wouldnt be too hard to make a full track with only FM8

I just meant that FM sounds tend to sound like FM sounds in my ears, whether its percussion or strings or bass or crazy Which is a good thing

I guess the opposite is also true, subtractive synthesis usually sounds like subtractive, which is also a good thing

And... well now that I think about it its pretty much irrelevant to compare one against the other, sorta like comparing rocks to the ocean

For some reason I don't use DX-esque straight-FM synths very often which is weird, I have plenty of fun coaxing neat sounds with them... I think Im gonna go do that

Yamaha hardware FMs are STUPID cheap, I saw a rackmount on ebay a while back for 30 US, with less than an hr left. The DX7 was only a few hundred US when it was brand new and still available that cheap. The catch is that FM synthesis carries a slight risk of shattering speakers and/or ears for the unwary. Also its gotta be super easy to accidentally bump a knob or button and turn a carefully concocted sound into mud, if FM8 does that without even physical controls to bump...          .

i like more analog style fm sounds ,modulation of the frequency,fm don t necessary mean digital and cold sound only it can be analog and warm.
these digitaly fm based synths like fm8 are great too for some type of sound, just not the ones i use much.

i could be wrong but i think in these digital synths a la dx7/fm8 it s the phase that is modulated .
