I have recently had a problem with battery and I can't find the source. I wonder if you could help me.
It seems like notes are triggered that are not there. For example on the standard kick rhythm an extra kick appears between the 7th and 8th kick. This problem gets worse the faster the drums get.
Here's what tests I did.
Tried Cubase 32. This problem does not appear there.
Tried my rme hammerfall card and this problem only happens if I overload my cpu with a lot of instruments, increase my buffer size above 520 andI play 1/16 rhythms and higher.
Tried my laptop's Realtek soundcard with DirectX and this is where what I explained at the top happens.
Tried MME with my laptop's soundcard and this happens only with 1/16th rhythm and higher.
Tried different versions of Battery, but the problem remains.
Tried to test Kontakt and Halion 2 and this problem doesn't appear.
Tested my memory for errors, but everything was in order.
Tested battery alone without any other instruments playing and the problem is the same.
I have defragmented the hard disk and removed files so that I will have 20% free space.
I have updated the drivers for my soundcard.
I have tried changing different settings in the standalone version of Battery. nothing.

I have run out of ideas. I really don't want to go through installing cubase sx again. Could you help me? Anyone had any similar problems? Any known incompatibilities with any other instruments?

I think I can help on this one hoorah!

Im happy cos I had the same problem.. for me with closed hihats. The problem is when battery triggers samples too quickly so that they overlap : e.g. the second kick starts before the first kick has ended.

By the way maybe your kicks are too long if this is happening hehe

Anyway I just tried Battery in Orion and the problem doesnt occur, so I tried ticking the 'Old Host Behaviour' box in Cubase's Plugin Information dialog. It worked!!

So thanks for the thread : it's Battery for me all the way again!

PS : I have to tick Old Host Behaviour for every plugin that uses samples, pretty much.

Thanks man, you saved my (social) life. I was just about ready to start reinstalling windows from scratch. I can't live without my battery. You've got some vivid imagination there. I would never have guessed to do this.
Thanks again, man. I am sure there are other people having the same problem with sx2.

hehe I think it is one of those problems where some people dont even realise it is occurring.

Yeah another one in SX2 is the problem with audio clips exporting at the wrong length : _sometimes_ when you bounce down a little audio loop then it comes back a slightly different length. If, like me, you hit the 'duplicate' key 10000 times, then this error gets multiplied up eventually into a noticeable sync problem.... and even if you dont notice then it might make your percussion sound a bit 'thick' or something...

happened a lot on the tune I am working on now, and I forgot till the end... had to spend a couple of hours just resizing and copying clips....
