Why dont u do the drum parts directly into audio tracks works great and u dont have to worry about a sampler |

Say you have built like 60% of your track and you have draw all the drum parts droping audio files over an audio track. then all of a sudden you stumble upon a better sample that completelly changes the way your drums sound like. Are you going to replace each single file then build all again from scratch?
this is why samplers are a better choice. At least for me. Plus, editing a sample without a sampler might cause some pieces of your audio to sound different than the others.
EDIT: and making complex rythims out of resizing samples is such a huge pain in the rear.  Jesus loves you...

Exactly because of what nerdkiller said.
I like to browse through my sample libraries listening to various say for example hihats while changing them on the fly.
