thats not what I mean, I want the group to be monophonic instead of polyphonic, not soundwise mono

its kinda easy to do this in exs24 for example, but I never figured it out in battery yet.

Sorry for being dumb but I don't get your point. What do you mean by 'polyphonic' in this context?           Making what you want with what you have

ah yeah, I also figured it out already...but I'll explain quick

its in the meaning of voices, similar as its used in synths, where a monophonic voicegroup will cause that a sample is cutted by another sample played after it which is in the same group. its used for imitating a real drummer playing a hihat for example.

how to do it in battery: (quote from another site)

------

Use the voice group settings in the setup tab (second tab).

Make sure you set the "max voices" setting to 1

If you only have one sample or cell on a voice group, it will replay your sample and not overlap if you trigger it before it has played the whole sample.

If you assign multiple cells to one voice group, any cell you trigger will mute any other cell playing from that same voice group.

hope that helped           https://soundcloud.com/hazak

oh, yeah. for that, there's also the choke group setting. from the manual:

----------

Choke Group: This is an advanced programming feature that allows for more realistic mute groups to be set up. Choke groups allow you to turn off different voice groups by setting them to the same Choke Group. The advantage here is polyphonic mute grouping versus monophonic.
Let us expand on the previous voice group example. Take those same hi-hat sounds and set them to exclusive voice groups. Such that the open hi-hat is voice group 1 and the closed hi-hat is Voice Group 2. Now the open hi-hat sound can be set to more voices, 5 for example. This allows some “trails” to be heard. The second Voice Group can be set to 1 max voice. Both of these groups should now be assigned a Choke Group of 1. With this setup you obtain the desired effect of trailing drum sounds, while having a controlled polyphony (Voice Group 1) and you can still choke that group with the closed hi-hat.
