I'm trying desperately the past 2 days to make the following: When I open Battery 3 in Cubase Studio 4, I cannot get it to assign more than one stereo channel. I want to assign every cell on a different stereo channel.I tried options and set stereo output channels to 16, then exit and restart, then Cubase asks the usual question (if I want a midi channel to be assigned to Battery) and click yes. What am I doing wrong? I've already watched a couple of tutorial videos, I'm doing exactly the same thing, but no... |

below the cell volume you have Channel selector. so go through all your cells and set different channels for each. also, i would suggest to go with 32 mono channels, instead of 16 stereo. i'd imagine you are using battery for one-shots, so there's no reason to keep them in stereo. |

sorry for hijacking this thread, but I also got a question about battery
is it possible to group several cells and make it a mono group?

thats not what I mean, I want the group to be monophonic instead of polyphonic, not soundwise mono
its kinda easy to do this in exs24 for example, but I never figured it out in battery yet. https://soundcloud.com/hazak

i think Lantiocho is referring to the fact that in Cubase 4 (studio 4 also) when you open a vst with multiple outputs it doesnt open all the outs in the mixer straight away as what used to happen in earlier versions (sx3 etc).
you need to do the following :
in cubase 4, when u create a vst that has multiple outs you need to tell it to open the ones u want in the vst plugin rack....next to where you have added your vst there is a little black arrow, click on it and it will then allow you to select which outputs you wish to have active
Hope this helps,
Mark

Theres no reason to use battery in fl my friend Absolutely no reason what so ever. FL has many many advantages especially fast work flow over cubase.
I don't want to get in a "my daw is better" arguement.
Cubase has some great advantages too. Bouncing everything to wav in cubase is one of the great features it has. Cubase makes working with waves and twisting them up a pleasure. I imagine thats why most psy artist use cubase.
As far as drum sequencing and sampling, use the built in fl sampler. It has everything you need and more.
Use the layer function for layering samples, if you don't know how to use it read the manual. That's the only advantage I can think of that battery has over FL.

When I use kontakt with multiple instruments in FL I set the channel for each instrument. Then I use the "midi out" plugin to tell it which instrument to play on that given midi out.
I struggled with this at first then I figured it out. Before I would just open a new session of kontakt but you can use one session of kontakt with many instruments utilizing the midi out plugin.

while we are on the subject of battery, do you guys ever use battery's internal fx? are they adequate enough to be used on minor elements?
what's the general consensus on their quality? |
