you should have good baseline VSTi like :

1. Tau
2. Trition
3. TBL
4. Neon

A bassline...
you take a deep synth sound - or whatever
apply some low EQ on it
make it sound the way you want
and then start making some loopin thing going over and over
that's the bassline...

don't forget it should sound good :)

a little advice about bassline ... choose the clearst baseline u can achive & not nessecerly the strongest one , u can alwyes use plugins to make the clearer sounds stronger....

For software, I recommend the Pro-52, preset #8 - analog fretless. you tweak it a little bit, add to it a bass booster such as Waves renaissance bass or sub-bass in Cubase 5.1, and you got yourself a really good bass sound.

TBL - I installed but it wont react to changes - nothing! any ideas? Same with Waldorf DPole.

G, r u sure your cubase doesn't filter MIDI in/out Sysex ?(panels->midi options-> filtering)
when have you recently installed new cubase ? (-:
by default it filters sysex.
