Dont have Zebra, just the demo version that triggers random notes after 5 minutes or so...I wonder if that is enough to get a decent bass patch out of it....hehehe

Peace out.

Snappyness comes from a fast decay time time on the ADSR that modulates the LPF, a relatively high modulation index and slower attack times on the compressor that compresses the bass.
Some synths are better than others. But I have no problem getting snappy bass tones from Trillian.
I still haven't used Sylenth for bass. Will try that one out on the next track.

Peace out.

Just for curiousity, which soundsources do u like to use?           Jonesy

Sh-101, Trillian, EXS 24 analog sampler instruments, ES1/2, Albino 3, Virus TI and eager to give Sylenth a go on the next tune, if I ever stop using the 101 patches...I'm in love with that sound... but that will probably change when I get the Moog Slim Phatty

Peace out.

hi! i made that snappy bass yesterday just by change start position of osc (sample as osc in Omnisphere) and filter env. no compression or other tricks. but i think that compressor with fast attack (5-10ms) and fast release (40-60ms) can do a job           http://www.beatport.com/release/cross-the-atoms/1042450

Ok, I have been working with Audio Damage Kombinat to get more high-freq components at the beginning of my bass notes, but I am not sure if it is quite there yet. I have visual data:

Where the red circles are indicating the characteristics imparted by the overdrive. I am also wondering about the relative amplitudes of the first two oscillations of each bass note, as denoted by the blue lines. Does anyone know what that is caused by?

I also have the recording of this posted in the workshop section:

http://forum.isratrance.com/equilizyme-iterative-process/

Please feel free to check that out, but I am wondering about other techniques everyone is using for the attack of the bass notes?

This bass is made with Ableton Operator. No attack, short decay, 100% signal to low pass filter envelope which goes from 100% open to cutoff at 100Hz in 245ms. Amp envelope closes in 720 ms.

Hope you are all well.

Equilizyme.

then my second guess would be transients caused by envelope retriggering, though it looks a bit clean for that.

so what have you come up with?

Hmm... yes the envelope is set to retrigger, that is able to have this type of effect?

I can't come up with any other ideas; I checked group channel comp, bass comp, EQ, with no results.           --

if the envelope retriggers before the envelope finishes going through the adsr stages - ie like an analog envelope, then it is possible this is making that snap.
