sounds good to me...you can just side chain them, and give a little gain to the bas to be more glued with the kick cheers!

velocity does the same, so no need for sidechaining in a gallop bass like this.
@ Lale
try different kick samples, they make huge difference!
also dont focus to much on kick-bass, it will take alot time to getting better in this. imo it sounds nice for the start (thank tutorials...). better focus on making tracks now!

yes I would try a bit more of a plastic kick. This one is more like a brick soundcloud.com/supergroover

My advice would be to learn how to synth your own Kick - Bazzism is great for this. Just tune the end of the sine wave's sweep to the fundamental of your bassline
When I started doing that and not leaning on samples my kick/bass started sounding a lot more glued together and driving If you want to make an apple pie from scratch...you must first invent the universe

Perhaps you are right and my problem is not so much the bassline but the kick drum.
i will try it.
is there a free vst plug for osx for making kickdrums?
Thx so much for your support.

From my short experience sidechain is everything bro. Set a sidechain compressor on the bass and a level compressor on the kick both to about -17 with a bass release of about 25-30. Just mess around till you get something that suits you. Also try messing with the envelope amount.

If you use a kickdrum that doesn't sound like you are knocking on lady gags head you will get a richer decay on it, which would correspond better to a bassline with a bit of side chain compression.
