Been working to make something similar..althogh I still feel I'm far from it.

This is the kind of sound I'm looking for. What I've been able to work out so far is this using vb-1. http://www.sendspace.com/file/x3ydr1

Can somebody point me in the right direction please? I feel that I'm somehow not getting the right mid and high section. That bassline sort of has a very good blend of the mid and high section..giving it that 'crunch' I'm looking for.

Wich vst for bassline are you using?
You can try with Cronox 2 Vst for that sound.

eq.
or try layering two basslines. the top one more clicky, smaller envelopes. ableton operator is good for that crunchy top.

try multiband distortion, e.g quadrafuzz or ohmcide

@splikz - What would I need to look out for if I try adding another bassline for that top sound?

@abraham - I'm using vb-1. If you hear my kick bass..it misses that well defined mid and top sound. If I use cronox, how would you suggest I tweak it?

@Grumbo - Thanks. Will try that out.

To me it sounds very quadrafuzzy, but I could be wrong.

That is one killer track! Damn! Love it!

I have also been trying to get that kind of bassline myself, but with no success..

Many tracks from Parvati Records have similar bassline sound.. awesome label           http://leinonen.se | love & bass!

+1 on quadrafuzz. one osc saw wave, relatively low pitch, short filter envelope decay/sustain. qf on it in its initial state. endofstory..

you can do that with basically all synths more or less. try zebra, sylenth, cronox, trillian..          http://www.ektoplazm.com/free-music/stereofeld-frequenzwechsel

Make it 2 on Quadrafuzz! Using multiband dynamics on top to take out some of the mids seems to work quite well to achieve such a bass.
