Actually you can and that is what everybody does. If you choose your bass and kick properly, you won't miss the "missing" bassline note. It will roll properly with the kbbbkbbbkbbb pattern. There will be no gab. Just a big phat rolling sound.

I agree, Undertow. But I will try the turorial, New Age Scientist. I've always been interested in learning sidechaining, but just haven't made myself do it. Thanks for posting the link. |

but...
if listen to eskimo i think it was vs talamasca , tiny tiny kick , and the bass have the gap or sidechain , it give some sort of psychological effect of huge huge bass (also since kick is tiny it realy is fat bass , but the effect with the gap makes it somewhat even bigger imo)
