Hi to everyone i post this new threath because i can't found a serious tutorial online that explain how can do a good bassline like burn in noise, avalon, sonic species.....because all video about bassline psytrance tutorial on the web there'se in old style bassline or very basic..
Only hearing its, i start to to a basic bassline in piano roll a put 3 note in 4 time and i change first key velocity in every 4 times ( like 80 of 100% ),and i think this is the base...but after i can't make the sound that i want ( like link below) i have a lot of vst like sylenth , cronox, tau.. ecc..i leave some track to take idea about bassline that i search on!:

Hope that can help me!

Good vibes to everyone!

i used the time and space tune as reference when starting one as im not used yet to my room, i got very close with massive and not even equed but probably on many synth you could.. for these bassline esm ,ace are better than massive imo (with massive i need extra work ), or maybe trilllian omnishpere could be perfect too, u need something with big dynamic, not thin sound. you need right kick too, it s the hardest to tweak.
believe me it s not in the processing, you can get very close to same sound wihtout anyhting , it s too tweak well the kick and bass toghether.
in a tune there is also the sound on top..so you can t really judge, it always sound better with the sound on top..that why sometimes i m even wondering if some of these artists do eq their kick and bass? very little i guess but i like it that way, not too much processed sound

hi1, thx very much 4 yoour answer at the first.Yeay i belive to that is not only the bass the reason of good mix but also the kick that you put on.....and i heard it when try to produce. Also yes i think that is not necessary have soo much professional vst for make a good sound mix, in genrally i like use tau...that is really simply vst but you can create very good sound. However i try also to search more opcion to create good sound soo is good also take other vst....the question is not how many vst one person have but if he know to use its...and i search at now to learn...step by step. How ever my teqnique is to take a part of song with bass and kick that i like and put in my sequencer and after try to imitate...for me is good execise....and for this reason i ask to you ( i think that you have a lot of experience) some trick to recreate theese sound.

however i perfectily agree with you about the final result is the mix of bass and kick ,also i think that this kind of trance is more simply like structure than trance of u -recken or commerical hippy that have much more work on also the note of bass change...than this is the same all minute of track....but the important is the result!.....other good producer with really basic simply bass i think is mental broadcast

keep anything that PoM said. A good bass is nothing without a good kick. you have to make a good combo to hear the result that you want.

Search the forum, experiment with it and im sure in the end you will happy with what you can make.

The most of the vsts out there can make a decent bass

Some things that i can say to give you an idea is to look:
ADSR envelope
Velocity
Velocity cutoff
Note lengths
Sidechain comp
Some fx (like quadra, fabfilter saturn etc)
A decent eq (both for kick & bass to fit well)

All of them can make a massive different to your sound.

Start with the basics first...

Take a synth, start with a innit preset, choose a saw wave with a 24db low pass filter and take a journey full of tweaking

the biggest factor is your room sound and monitor imo if you are in a small room it s always very colored down there from my experience...maybe not all small room.. so basically if your room sux, you wont be abble to make a decent kick bass from scratch wihtout lot lot of effort, while in a good room you will have this covered in minutes if you have a bit of experience and use good tools to make it easier.
if you still use tau, i m wondering if you are not coming out from the past with a timemachine lol, but maybe it s still good dunno..
a other old synth that is trusted and where hundreds of psybassline have been made and still no one complained after more than a decade (not like VB1) is esm coming with logic, but there is lot of other good option..

to me the synth matter a lot but with all the tools tricks we have, like saturator, transient designer, enveloper, compressor, limiter,eq,mulitband, time alignement.. you could turn the tiniest crapy synth bassline into a almost moog quality one.. but imo the closer you get it right out of the source the best quality and natural sound you can have and with the less trouble

i just want to add small tip: don't compare your work to already mixed and mastered and (probably) mp3 compressed tracks. your kick-bass combo never will be sound the same like in final tracks           http://www.beatport.com/release/cross-the-atoms/1042450

It's quite simple, take any vst you like... e.g. Zebra, put a saw in, adjust first the filter cutoff, then the amplitude and filter envelopes to the desired taste, ad an eq and filter out undesired frequencies, then add a nice compressor, play with attack and release until you have it where you want it. Make sure your kick and bass are both mono! And there you have the half of the story. Do the same thing with a kick sample that sounds good with the bass (the bass has to lean on the kick)(there are shitloads of decent kick samples all over the place), mix your other track components in afterwards and you are pretty much there... don't worry about saturators, multiband compressors and the likes, try to make your bass sound nice without any extras, you may want to add on some of those later, but first make it shine without the "helpers"....

All these posts remind me of the good old days when someone asked in israforum something (even if it has been answered many times ) and many guys gave their knowledge to help.

@paul8710:

Will be cool to hear a sample from you after your experience with all of these helpful answers.

Good luck
