Bassline has different volumes

I'm making a bassline, where it has a bit difference in the dB output volume depending the tone I'm using. For example the F-tone is making more volume than a C-tone.

I think the volume at a bassline should be similar all the way through. How can I do that?

adjust the fader via automation

use different velocities

use compression

However if it sounds fine then don't worry about the difference on the meter, unless of course you are not leaving yourself enough headroom.

which vst are you using? it's very wired...
anyway the solution depends on the vst you are using. if the vst has good velocity control so different velocities should solve it(for example i use sylenth and the velocity control on the volume is not so good there for my opinion). automation on the fader is also an option offcourse. the problem might be the decay(for higher notes the decay should be shorter) so what i did just few days ago is to open 2 vst's for the bassline with different decay time, the shorter decay for the low notes and the longer decay for the higher notes. but in my case the fader have shown same db levels for the notes. it's just had sound louder because it had problem with the decay.

the velocitys using sylenth1 is the best in my opinion.. theres more than one way to use the mod matrix effectivly

i ment it's not very good for controling the volume (i don't talk about the other options).
i don't succeed anyway to make it control the volume well enough.

Is this a measured change or just perceived change?

Room acoustics should be noted.

If different notes simple 'sound; louder, its more than definitely a room mode.

Bounce a scale for an octave or two and look at the waveform to see if there is a difference in volume. If not, you're going to have to compensate with your own ears, or sort out your room with absorption.

using lenght, velocity and tone velocity - are great musical tools to make different grooves of kick and bass. and actually of anything in music. i think experiments are always good. and you will always have speciall result.

duplicate the bass track. the first will control the bass root (lowest bass note) and the second controled all the rest - to use different volume, compression, effects...

I'd put money on it being a problem with the room.           Mastering - http://mastering.OOOD.net :: www.is.gd/mastering

Rooms resonances. Most likely an axial mode, but the OP needs to clarify a couple of things.
