Bass guitar is an underrated instrument to play. Once you have played around with it you get a feel what you can really do with it that you usually not get around to do in most music. In many areas the bass is reduced to a mechanical filler.
Bassists usually listen to music where the bass takes up a more central role, which is not peculiar in any way but it kind of plays out when you play with a good bassist.
My point is a good musician can make anything sound good but it has to have some kind of point in playing. I would say 95% of the music I bother to listen to has very little thought behind it, which is sad. |
