i tried a little bit with basssounds.
3 different vsts, no EQ and no other effects, pure synth!
sylenth, zebra & cronox (not in that order )

(you have to turn up volume, and note that the wave file is compressed by soundcloud...)

I'm gonna get the fishing rod right away.

EDIT: Orgytime you should have left more time for people to post their options, to make the expectations grow you know.

gg sorry, i couldnt hold it back,
ethik mantis (sorry for spelling you wrong in the other post), and a.rosengren put a fat smile on my face;;

but the sample still exists and we can discuss!
what you think about each synth?
what are their strong/weak points in basses?
why do you like which synth?

cheers

well its hard to judge by these samples as treating the envelopes slightly different will result in dramatic changes. anyway:

i do find cronox to have a nicely full and warm, more melodical timbre in this particular sample. that is the only one synth i do not own in this comparison, which version are u using as i recall there were different versions that had clearly different sounds and the older one was supposed to sound better on bass??

zebra always sounds plastic and thin. cuts nicely throug a busy mix if you want that though.. but in general them filters on Z. suck imo

sylenth can be nice on bass with the given well sounding filter. although some more filters to tweak would be a long wanted add on for fucks sake.

many factors can still change the sound like envelopes and filters and volume but the first sounds better then the other 2
