Hi guys,
Any of you heard them 2 before?
I made my mind up in getting one of these 2 but cant go to a shop and listen to their sound cos can't find them nowhere.
Can any of you help a fellow out?
I know KS Rack is polyphonic and has more features and easy access and Bass station is monophonic and only has 7 presets but Im realy more interessted in the sound they produce.
I'm after a fat analogue sound.
Witch one do you think that I should go for?
Thanks in advance.

If you want real fat analogue sound none of these 2 are good. Why not a real analogue than?
Yes the bass station is analogue but very limited. It is as the name suggests just a bass synth.
The KS is a slimmed down nova and is dsp based and has no multimode.
If you're on a limited budget and want real analogue check out s.th like Doepfer Dark Energy, DSI Evolver or Mopho, MFB Synth Lite ...
Or some older ones like the Alpha Junos or JX3P, JX8P. Those are quite cheap used. But you might want a programmer for easy access.

I was very interessted in Doepfer Dark Energy but it has only a low pass filter winch is not what Im looking for.
I own a TETR4 and faced my self with the problem of only having a LPF.
Im looking for something analogue up to £200 with BPF, HPF, BPF and stereo audio input so I can use it's filters for my Tetr4.
I found some nice ones but can't find them for sale.
So the KS is not an analogue, virtual analogue or analogue modeling synth?
Im also looking for rack or desktop without keys, knobs are not an issue coz I got the BCR2000 controller.
PS-Thanks a lot for the feedback. |

Well, I do own a Nova and for me it doesn't sound too much analog like and I have analog synths. The Nova is nice for pads and ambient sounds, it has a warm sound. I still think, if you want "fat analoge sound" you should get an analog. Anyway the Nova is a good synth. On ebay you should get one for under 200 pounds.
When it comes to analog 200 with lp/hp/bp, audio in is not that much.

We have a nova to, it doesn't sound anything close to analog in my book but it has a very characteristic sound. You can tell when a sound is from a nova in tracks. You can't say that about many synths

Cheers guys.
I got myself a ks rack on ebay, Im still waiting for it.
I hope its not that bad, even if I don't like its osc I can still use it has a efects processor for my other synth (TETR4) or has a midi controller.
Ill write a small feedback here as soon as I got it.
Next time Ill save up for a true analog beast. |

Ok I've got it now.
It doesn't sound fat as an analogue but it has a clean digital sound and with my preamps and a psp warmer on top it sounds great.
Togheter with my Tetr4 synth sounds awesome.
and it does what I was trying to do with my Tetr4 very easly.
Because of its filter secction, Squelchy sounds and hard leads are no problem to me anymore.
Im quite happy with it considering its price, its a great synth.
Ill buy Doepfer Dark Energy next because its beautiful fat and handy.
Cheers for the tips guys.
All the best |
