I have a NL3 but i havent found a good bass sound to work with.
Maybe i will sound like a total ignorant but when i do bass lines in the nord and then i record does, i can see that the audio grafic is not stable at all and has lots of variations like a big wave crossing the sound .
why?
thanks in advance for your comments. |

Hi,
try to start with simple sounds, one oscilator through one filter, than adding a sub or a second oscilator. I think your sounds will be more complex after that for sure.
good luck hope that helps |

First of all the nordlead is not the problem.
It sound like you are using more than one oscillator or you are using unison. Do what ansolas say. Most psy basss are only one oscillator. Using only one osc for bass gives you more stable result. |

Lol... that's not a very sly way of asking for presets mate
Try doing it properly instead:
A VERY SIMPLE BASSLINE PATCH:
Initialise the synth... make sure it's running on one oscillator (retrig if the synth has it)
Make that oscillator a sawtooth.
Set filter to LP
Max env
0 attack 0 sustain and tweak the decay.
Simple as...
Learn the basics then make better sounds.

okok, well is not that i want the things already done for me Nikc.. na na, i have tested many synths and at the end i choose the cronox, z3ta+ and the vb1 because they have such a great body and when i compare does sounds with the nord i cant believe why, the nord, cant give me the same presence.
Thanks for the mini tutorial! i did it and i have a preety bass sound , but not what i'm looking for.
I'll record some basses and then compress etc to see if i can achieve what i want (hopfully).and no, it doesnt has trigger.
cheers |

i guess this should help u out...
start with a single saw wave oscillator, put it through a simple lowpass filter keep the resonance n cutoff low...
now in the amplitude envelope section, keep the attack on 0...keep the sustain low and the decay a lil higher than that n keep the release to a lil over 0...(u're supposed to have a plucked kind of a sound)
make the bassline on a low octaven tweak the filter till u get the perfect sound |

Another approach would be to sample the bass sound uve tweaked, in that case you could approach the bass as same as you would create a kickdrum. In other words you could first create the high attack sound and add another sample for the bottom |

The last approach would be to sell the nord on ebay and use VB1 instead.
That heavy 'thump' of cash dropping in to your bank account (or on the counter for a new virus) ought to be a *nice* bass sound. |

nordlead3 is not that great to make basslines... it's great for leads and pads but it lacks of attack to make a real fat bass in my opinion...it also doens't have the power in the sub frequencies that can have a clavia modular or a virus for example
my advise would be to use vst to make your bass and make all the rest with the nordlead
have a nice week end

thanks Side A,
i agree with you after many attempts without success...
the best is bass with vst and everything else with the NL3.

Sorry to say this but don't blame the NL3 if you can't get a nice bass sound. Keep trying. |

That Nordlead 3 is no good for basslines.
I think you should just get rid of it, I'll PM you my address |

now seriously... could be because of the "substractive" synthesis tipe ? |
