Cool. Ambient party for the people standing in front of the left speakers, techno party for the people standing in front of the right speakers.

who needs multiple rooms of music when you can create your own sound by moving to a different part of the dance floor.

a few weeks ago i played live on a party and i forgot to turn off autopan on fx channel in one track, so all fxs were playing on the right speaker, and rhythmics were raging louder on the left.. it was kinda interesting hehe

not only the beatles did this! some great acts, also psycedelic rock acts, from 60 and 70´s did it! but its an other styl of music!
i was playing with the pan of the bass few weeks a go! in a 2 bar brake a long bass note comes from the left and moves to the right after brake it plays again in the center! i think this sounds nice! |

For me, kick, snare, bass (or the sub bass of a layered bassline), main open hat (not always shakers) in mono. Then percussion and the main leads and stabs in stereo, yet consistent in the stereo field (and having some stereo delays doing some extra work) and then all the effects, sweeps, pads, free to go wild on the stereo field.
You have 180 degrees to play with. use all of that range instead of only the extremes.

pan your bass mono track hard left, then create a bus and rout it to another channel, panned hard right, apply a minimal phaser to your hard panned aux track and make sure the volume is the same!
I have used this effect successfully in the past. Despite all the warnings that bass should be panned mono to center!
