patches for psy basslines? does such thing exists?
i do them myself without msec, cycles and whatever AND without patches... bass synths are so simple that they don't even need them.
trilogy and normal synths are a bit more complicated but if you understand how a bass synth works it won't be too hard to pass it to a normal synth.

i think you worrywork too much on your production and your bassline. and i see music nowadays this way... good basslines (and a guitar), top production and shitty music... the perfect example is hommega records.

thank god i'm the opposite and thank god there are still artists that combine top production and top music

Hey people!

thanks for all your advice, im gonna try rms buddy..
cause sometimes i find that the bass has some secret energy, and you hear it best behind the speakers than infront, its like a vacum.. dont know how to explain the phenomenon. im thinking it could be the compressor and the chorus i used that made it wobbly in the lowend and around 250hz but it sounded nice it the high freqs, so a workaround would maybe be to layer one part with chorus and compression on the treble layer and nothing on the lowend layer...

though i took away all FX and it sounded way better, so ill recheck

and e-motion, you are totaly right i worry too much and it hinders me all the time. i need to flow more.. like in the old days when music was fun and not so fucking demanding.. lol

about processing the decay and leave the attack alone sounds smart..
but mostly the thing about knowing whats wrong and spoting the problem, thats the main thing.. i would say its something i try to do active.. thats why i spot so many problems.. but to fix them is another story which takes alot of experience and knowhow of the tools....

SideFXed - i got 3 - 2.1 systems that i can reference on and a pair of cheap computer speakers, just so i can spot overloading.... so i should not have any problems in judinging if its okej.. but i just dont trust my self and i more than often over complicate things, but foremost i think i know to little... though i need a pair of nearfields, or some hifi speakers maybe...

cheers everybody...

and vipal ill do that, ill pm you or write here...
im a little busy these days, but if i can squeez this test in someday here i will...

btw, here is a snippet of a track i started last summer, it goes in G and 138bpm, tau pro as baseline.. if you got any pointers about what i could think of in terms of production, please share. and dont tell me it belongs in the "new tracks section" cause thats not the point of it.. just need some general advice...

nice track,i really like it about the production i think it s good, after it s a matter of taste, for me the kick is too loud and the bassline with more sub,it s a bit light here.

Hey PoM - Nice to hear it makes me smile..
and you are correct, i also think the kick is too loud, and the bass need some more sub, maybe by lowering the filter on tau pro it will make the impression of sub... hmm, ill have to figure that out.

there is alot more inside this project than this snippet, i just havent arranged completley and i need to export alot and mix it again...

i got your pm, ill send you the track as soon as its done.. you gave me some energy to grab it by the horns and get it done...

btw the track got a story... thats the cool part..
the orginal name is " deep inside the indigo forest" its supposed to be a journy through this indigo forest where you meet all sorts of creatuers... i got a witch in there as well.. haha

anybody have any idea what calibrating the system would do for you anyway? Is it something to make it so you always produce at the same volume level? Or is it just to make sure that the levels between all your speakers are equal?

I was contemplating doing this but an spl meter is around $50 (U.S.) here. Though it would be good for events too when the cops show up to be like see...we are within the legal levels, now go away. Or something to that extent hehe

Either way though more information on how important this "calibration" is would be nice.

hi guys,

just followed the guidelines of bluesky for calibrating my system. and had to do a huge change of my bass sub volume. from minus3 to minus9.

now my before so nice sounding bassline became a bit shallow. kik sounds horrible now.

soo important this tuning. without doin it you cannot make complete conclusions abt your speakers bass-behaviour.

as i understood this is most of all a combination of your speaker vibez and your room characteristics.

so: calibration is very important!!!

and i think the tutorial with testfiles of bluesky can be done for every system ffcourse.

good luck.
yeah i paid 100 euro for the spl meter. theorectically i could sell it now after 5 minutes of use.

is it important if you don't have a sub?

due to the room acoustics the frequency response of each speaker might be different. One way to calibrate the speaker is to use eq that has an automatic adjustment system using feedback. I don't know others than Behringer's ultra curve (heh), but i sure they exist. Ultra curve just plays white noise from each speaker and then using a measurement mic it calculates the frequency response and then adjusts the eq accordingly to normalize the response.

I have not been able to use the ultra curve but I'm going to loan one from a friend of my to try it out. AFTER I get proper monitors and some acoustic treatment for my room...

one thing - stereo bass sound great when done right (Double Rel is good example for this)

beside that i like compressed\limited groups to reduce overload in the track
and also to reduce alot of 350hz-1000hz where its not needed (bass & kick can sound great with 3db reduction that "free" the headroom for this freqs)
