When i measure my bass in decibel i see that it change a lot in decibel alltgough i play the same note. This doesnt happen when i measure my kick and snare.
I´ve even exported and reimported it as wav but it still keeps jumping up and down in volume.
Anyone who knows how i can keep it at constant value ? |

maybe your bassline has different velocities...
maybe you have automation on it without you noticed. but the bassline should change in volume little bit. if you play kbbb. so the first note of the bassline would be lower at volume. that what most people do anyway, but you can play the bassline as you like, no rules.

maybe the oscs dont retriger properly?
i think u should export it and take the best hit and use that to build your bassline... or... its clashing with the kick or something else in your track struggling for space in the mix making it pop out everytime it has more headroom..

as he says, the first note of kbbb should have the lower volume, but is not a rule. u can try in the kbbb the first note..low volume..the middle note have a lil more volume..and the third the louder but at the exact point of no making other things moody.
also u can play with the lengths of the notes to sound more rolling instead of flat --- --- --- ---
oh and try to bounce, sometimes is better to work without the vst itself. u can manipulate the properties of the sound in diferent ways if u work with the bounced file Greetings Earthlings!

Scenario 1 - The Synthesizer
It may be the synthesizer you are using. Some of the less high quality soft synths are not consistent in their outputs of sound. That is why many are very selective of their bass synthesizer such as muon tau pro, cronox, 3xosc (me personally, dont know any others who make bass with it), trilogy, etc... This is a possibility.
Scenario 2 - Equalization
Perhaps your bass is eq so that different notes are louder due to change in frequency response from eq. As you stated it is on one note so this is not possible. I just wanted to cover it for others having this problem with bass that changes notes.
Scenario 3 - Velocity
As stated above maybe you have a lower velocity set for some notes that you overlooked.
Scenario 4 - Reefer
Maybe you haven't smoked enough reefer.

Yes you can add compression although this is a last resort type thing. You generally do not want to do anything to your basslines except maybe a little eq. However whenever you have something spitting out uneven volumes such as a vocalist that varies in loudness compression is added lightly to smooth out the fluctuations.

Just in case you use Native Instruments Massive, theres a bug with timing where it will drift out and not retrigger properly with tight basslines.
To fix it, go to Global, untick 'Extern Sync' and manually set the tracks BPM |
