Monitors and head placed to form an equilateral triangle with the monitors, at ear height, facing you.

Sub on the floor in front of you and behind the monitors.

Very important to get a decent sub, spend at least as much on it as you spent on the monitors and large enough that it forms a handy footrest for while you are listening to the trance and identifying the basic elements of which it consists.
