Yeah, I know I'm too lazy to figure it out myself.
But could anyone tell me some basic kick/bass combination patterns for Chill/Ambient music?

I've been trying to get some things goin, but somehow I don't get the bass evolving nicely with the kick.

I don't think there are basic kick/bass patterns for chill and ambient music and for sure there is no recipe for writting them.
My advice is to start with a lead/hook/pad/vocal part that you like and experiment playing the keyboard till you find a bassline that fits with that.
Aah you could also make a groovy fullon kick/bass at 145 bpm and then drop the tempo
Cheers!

Yeah, but problem with the fullon bass, is that it's going to sound real groovy when I drop the tempo.

I usually start with this extremely basic pattern:

K...|....|....|....||S...|....|....|....||

K: kik
S: snare
.: empty
with a decent delay, at low tempo. Then I try to fit some bass notes whilst looping, anything just comes into my mind after i get used to the drumloop.

But there is no recipe, obviously.
