For all I know, there haven't been any good movie that was actually based on a game.
For example: Street Fighter, Mortal Combat, Max Payne, Silent Hill, crap, crap, crap, crap...
I can't think of anything nice at the moment.
Any suggestions maybe?
So, let's make a thread!
Some reccomendations, critics, game that you want to see on the big screen, new films/old films...

All of them were crap.
Notable mentions:
Super Mario Brothers, Dead or Alive, Bloodrayne, Resident Evil, Alone in the dark, Postal and also the upcoming ones:
Gears of War, God of War, Dead Space, The Sims and World of Warcraft

"riddick" or "chronicles of riddick" is based on a game too and is not too bad (i think...) "final fantasy the spirits within" (boring) "final fantasy advanted children" is well... good i think; castlevania is suppose to come in the 2010... look for the movies based on games in "anime" or "cgi" (3d computer graphics) like RE Degeneration they are much better than "live action movies" i think...

Actually the warcraft movie is to be based on the Warcraft 3 games, not WoW

I don't think so... They have a good budget, some kickass storytellers from blizzard and Sam Raimi as director, who IMO is pretty skilled.
Only thing is that the story will be told from the alliance's point of view. But the movie should be a war movie and not a long fairytale...

haha Super Mario Bros with Dennis Hopper and Bob Hoskins 
I used to own it on VHS as a kid and found it very amusing. I rewatched it here the other day, not wise. It sucks but wins on nostalguc lolz. Movie has very little to do with the game except some brand names. *shock
Dead or Alive I've wanted and dreaded to watch for a couple of years now. Was aired on TV the other day while I happen to be rolling, so I decided to give it a go. It was Ok since I knew it would be über crap. Mortal Kombat ownz though 
Bloodrayn, do you think it's worth a Notble mention? ? I Kow of the game - never played, got a 2.6 on imdb .. And hesus, look at this: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0896036/ haha
I actually like Resident Evil a lot, think their all good enyertainment! The first one is very good, and the sound/musicscore done by Marilyn Manson, good.
Alone in the Dark.. I've been wondering about spending an hour and half on it, but never bothered because of fear to really waste time.

Man, Silent Hill .is .kick-ass. The game adoptation with mood, camera angle, score are superb. The PyramidHead dood, killargh. The revenge, sick. The nurses .. No, i dig this movie as an adoptatiom of a game I loved.
Street Fighter sucks so hard.
Tekken Manga was boring.
I watched Doom last night. It's not that good and something about it is cool. Never did play Doom 3 though..
Max Payne had to become a The Punisher copy with a twist. Didnæt like the movie at all.
