In general, the results of online surveys cannot be generalized to the general public, because they have such a skewed sample.

For example, this survey only includes people who are tech savvy, so of course the # of pirates will be higher, and your results will be skewed.

This is not a online survey. Where did I say it was a online survery? Actually the survey is done by the leading Survey Agency in Denmark by calling households (dont know how many in this survey but they usually call between 5 - 10.000 households) and asking for a person in that household of the age 15-25. I doubt that all those people asked are all "tech savvy".

The survey was done for KODA in Denmark who is the artist organisation here that collect all money from TV, radio, concerts ect.

So of course you could say that KODA have an interest in the survey result but hey so does almost all companies or organisations establishing a survey. The important thing is how the questions were asked and from my knowledge of the Survey Agency they are very reliable and do not "color" any questions.

Seriously if there would be a heavy financial punishment like let's say 50.000$ I think the trade would go down pretty quickly

one thing just for the discussion i would like to know your views (anyone or everyone )

whats wrong if the mp3 mzk is priced on the net individually >>>>>>>>>> coz this is going to happen ................

what is the guarantee if someone buys a genuine cd and does not make any copies to give to afriend or friends? ................

how will you stop peer to peer when on a micro level user A in one country goes to his friend B's site in another and download his mzk and call it sharing >>>>> who will monitor >>> human tendency

better option leagalize everything and avoid problems like labels(foul labels) not paying etc. coz on the net it can be easily monitored >>>> any transaction made to a song or track splits in two accounts and voila artist gets paid and the label earns .

Now if you look at the tech options than why not it be an encoded format to be downloaded and converted by an unique software whose license gets renewed every time you buy certain nos of tracks so this has less chance of being pirated coz everytime it expires the provider changes the security patch(or whatever its called) ...................

all i wanna say that why waste time to win over something which is going to become all pervasive, rather i think we shld mould it to everyone's advantage .............

P.S. these are just random thaughts but i am not "against" or "for" MP3 >>>>>>>>>>> FOR"MZK" FOR SURE

Hi everybody!

I've had some serious problems in finding time to post new messages to this forum during the last 1-1,5 months, but now I've found some time to do it again (like anybody would've missed me or anything ).

I'm not replying to this post directly, but I just wanted to give an update to the information about online piracy I've posted in this topic before.
I've now monitored the illegal sharing of the latest Tranceform-release, the "Anima Mundi" -album by Ethereal, for a bit more than one month (it was released on 24th of November) and I have to say that Israelis have definitely stolen the show this time.
My rough guess is that 80% of all the people illegally spreading and downloading the album have been from Israel, the runners up are Brazilians and Mexicans. Only a few people from Europe actually.
The information was really amazing when I went through my memos four days ago, it seems that the saying of "Israel turning into a huge downloading machine" that somebody told me is absolutely true.

Have fun everybody,

I've bought 11 psytrance albums in the last two months, and all of them I downloaded in mp3 beforehand.

I usually download all the music of my interest, and when I find that I like something, I buy it. Simply because there is no other alternative if you want to enjoy the music to the fullest. The sound quality of cds just beats the crap out of lossy compressed mp3s.

You never get the music in all it's sonic entirety off the net.

I just hope the artists really invest to the quality of the recording.

an artist gives up his whole life for the music he makes
what does he get out of it
record labels will not buy tracks neither do they usually pay up if the track happens to get out on Mp3 before it is released.

the mere fact that Mp3 traders are always asking for music and sharing it
the mere fact that some even play it to 3000 people giving them incomplete journeys

the mere fact that this trading has already deadened the profits in all musical genre,

the mere fact that this is an underground scene, and artists are making music not for desicration

what is an mp3
what is a wave
what happens when you take 14000 kbps and convert it to 320kbps

almost 80% of the quality is lost
therefore sounds are lost

whats lost is not retreived back once converted back to wave as most people believe the opposite.

So good luck, to all you wave collectors there is lots out there, and if you look for quality and not quantity.. the quantities come automatically.

to you flavoured moksh --- what exactly was your point!!
I dont think anyone got it.
this is an intelligent forum where lunacy is irradicated with no response.

Well, I know all you guys may condemn me.
So, I'm a freak downloader, and I'm not shame about this. Sorry if you artists judge me a bad trancer but I will never stop!
I LOVE you all, I love your music, I love psy trance! But CD is so expensive... and if we have a free way...
If you think I dont support the scene, I think you are wrong! All the money I can save beside my reponsibilities I spend in parties...
Do you have any idea how much cost a party ticket in japan???? 70~120 dollars, not less!!! Do you have any idea how much money the artists can make just playing here??? Do you have any idea how many times Infected, Hallucinogen, GMS, Astrix, Skazi and Space Cat plays in Japan by year???? 3~4x not less!!!!
Mp3 and Sharing will never ruin psytrance! Im sure!
Until we trancers still blasting in the dancefloors the trance will never STOPS!
Is LOVE and not MONEY what moves our culture!
And who gives a shit to how much digits you have in your kbps????
Or you forgot how everything this starts in GOA with shit speakers and lots of vibe!!

Really sorry if I disapoint you all...
Love and Respect!

And you think by spending your money on parties with big names, you are supporting the scene?

So what about all the other artists, the ones you download but maybe do not come to Japanese parties?
