according to mr Katz in small studios with your signal to noise and headroom issues all straightened out, unbalanced is almost always better sounding.

What does Bob have to do with this?
And it sounds like what they're talking about is removing the components that allow balanced connections and using unbalanced connections to improve the sound, which isn't about the interconnect types as much as less commutation. Am I totally wrong here?
  You believe in the users?
Yeah, sure. If I don't have a user, then who wrote me? |

thats what i m wondering , i tried to set my soundcard and converter unbalanced, it seems to sound different and better but i m not sure it s placebo , could be cause my volume control is cranked up and sound better that way... have to experiment.
ps: i trust more bob katz experience than mine |

The problem with balanced is that the phase reversal introduced to cancel out interference is not transparent unless the design and components are perfect.
If you do have interference it will be a price worth paying, but otherwise it does more harm than good.

So does this mean i'm better off using the unbalanced breakout cable with my RME HDSP 9632?

Also it can depend on the output level the outputs is providing.
It's common to have -10 dB on for example RCA and +4 on XLR, and which is better of those depends on what you are plugging it into.

For the moment it's K+H 0300's soon to be replaced by Barefoot MM27. So since they probably work best on +4 i think i'm better off using the balanced XLR outputs?

Will be sure to do that, but it's going to be 2-3 months at least with shipping!
Sold the K+H to a friend of mine & he's kind enough to let me keep them till the Barefoots arrive

I would guess so too, but there are a lot of variables.
To get +4 unbalanced I think you will need to dissemble those barefeets and go loose on them with the soldering iron to remove the balancing circuitry

There's only one shop that is selling them in the U.S, Vintage King.
Funky Junk in Italy also has them but they're more expensive, so i ordered them from VK.

Hmm I dont get it :S
Also just bought a RME HDSP 9632 interface....
In addition I have:
*Dynaudio BM6A Active monitors
*Core 2 Quad 2.4 PC
*Virus TI, Nord Rack 2
What are the pros and cons of getting balanced xlr cables between my Interface and my monitors?
Plz explain in beginners ears=)
Please explain the concept of: "Noise Interference"
Thx In advance!
