It is great for the technical terms but it is totally oposite from music stuff. In a creative way.
I have to do some calculations for the welds on my project till tommorrow and I would rather work on my percussions
Positive side is my girlfriend..she is very suportive and she likes my music She tells me that it is no problem if I would like to do just music and put the mechanical engineering aside. That she will work 2 jobs if I would like to follow my music ambitions.
But that is the wrong way..
It is relatively easy when people have only one-sided career..

Well, man,I ain't knowing the music industry, but I do know and can guess it takes one a in a ..... to make a good living out of psy music. And that is in case you have to sell your creative soul, and settle for time table and catchy tunes that worked.
You have here a steady thing going on.If you are spiritualy rich person, you also have to appreciate and balance with the world you process throught your eyes.Zen master Joshu always said that you have to take this world as is,before proceeding to understand higher planes.
What I'm brainfarting is,you are allready taken the proccess of becoming an engineer, demanding one . Stoping it now will be really counter productive, really when you have to suffer 4 years and then you have all the time in the world.
I see you talk about weldings,at least in mine uni it means you are at least in your 4 simester and up . Our way is not much different then the monks, resisting temptations. We all love music, but we fukking adore it when we have to do some uninteresting shit instead. That is our human nature.Don't think about it man.
Do your stuff, sit on Solid Works or whatever you use, finish your stuff, and then work on music, and don't even think on quiting. It is fukking tough,I know...But unless you have steady fan base, good portofolio of tracks and there is somewhere pending singing with record company...
Well, lets look pass the emotional goggles on this world, and sum up that there is a spring break when you can let your creativeness fullon (heh) out there. |

wife, 2 kids, full-time job + a lot of freelance job / biz
2 - 3 hours for music during a week
~ 10 finished tracks a year
It's very important to use studio-time effectively (as well as all the other time). These loops... well you know what i'm talkin about http://soundcloud.com/aedem |

You said it all, mate!
It would be a perfect life to enjoy making music and not to care about anything else..
People must have higher purpose in their lifes.. Also, hard work keeps me very focused

@danfoss - project a return on investment on multiple strategies and select the one with most return, then focus on that.
Eliminate strategies with less/no return.
You will find that you will get a lot more return for time invested. |

i have a wife and am head chef a vegan place, so i don't get alot of time to myself.
i dedicated myself to music last new years, so i now have no social life outside my wife and roommate.
and honestly, i don't miss people or going to parties. after i get my livesets perfect (ish) i'll start going out again. |
