Balance at parties

Is there any place in the world, where parties are balance musically? I always hear or read compliants about a countrie's scenes either being too full on or too progressive minimal.

From my corner of the world the parties are awesome but sometimes I'm left craving some uplifting progsvs tunes at sunrise and late morning after nothing but dark full on music, but its full on day and night to the point where the music becomes unberable. I pefer the more progressive stuff but I like alot dark full on stuff but personally I think you appriaciate each style more if you have all of them present at a party, and the party is set up in a way were it creates a journey through dark full on psychedelic soundscapes at night and it moves into uplifting minimal grooves in the early morning creating a contrast. So when I tell promoter about this concept when do they tell me! To throw my own parties so I listen to the music I want.

I m talking about outdoor parties that is.

Yes, we have some balanced parties here, outdoor ones, with a beatiful nature around you and a real story of development in the music. The whole deal. You gotta know how to find them though.
And I'm sure you can find ones like that everywhere, and if you can't- make them...           ---------------------------------------------

we have the opposite thing here - minimal at nights and full on on the mornings (but ppl at our country come to parties at 3 or so, so real party start only with full on already. as later hour it is as more full onish the music. no ballance for me...
im also prefer dark and scary psychedelic stuff at night time, but cant stand full on on the morning, when all i want its dance, smile and feel good. without agression, without all this banging music, need something floating and positive, progressive morning music it is.

in my opinion its realy hard to find balance here @ parties (balance is very personal thing).
its realy rare to find here the thing that im looking for, i bearly never saw a dj that start with a true "warm up" set, like it should be imho. and about the nigth and day thing, i do prefer progg @ nigth, but no full on @ morning
@ the moment the progg set starts its starts too hard and fast, wothout any groove or flow, to much "kill`em all" around here. and when i do get to the point where i enjoy the nigth set the guy is leaving and the full on set starts, btw: the too much full on @ parties is the main reason i stoped going to parties
so... no balance for me (maybe "balance" is not the exact word... maybe its "structure" but i just dont enjoy parties here as i used to)

but... thats just me           if you want to be rich, u`ve got to be a bitch!

i enjoy almost all styles so usually i have no problem listening to whatever the dj puts. (but i HATE when the music gets too crazy - texas faggot).

Krod20, where in the US are you located?

If you are ever in the area, you should try a party in Texas sometime. I think "balance" is a fairly relative term, but just about every party in Texas has always had a great deal of variety. There is hardly ever too much full on, melodic, progressive, minimal, etc, but one or two DJs playing each style at parties. This goes for both Austin and Dallas, where the majority of psy in the state is located.

I think it is partially because there is really no preferred style amongst the local DJs and also because everybody comes from very differing backgrounds (some from house/tekno, some from industrial, some from ambient/IDM, some from non-electronic, and even some from psytrance) so they bring different influences to their DJing. I have never been at a party in Texas where there was too much full on or too much prog/minimal...there is usually enough of each to keep things interesting.

Yeah, so I guess that would count as balance.

But I am probably biased since I come from TX...heh.

well, yes i have to agree with you krod mate there are not, on the whole, that many balanced parties. But we do have a variety of different things on offer in the london clubs which is nice, and sometimes outdoor parties that last for long enough for every type of music to get an airing           >>love will tear us apart...<<

I m in the west coast.... but I have dont know anyone from texas but the SF scene is the best in the country as far as I know from other people. But is good that is growing in other parts of the country. and it sounds you have more variety.

Right on! I think theres a whole new thread in there.

Its great to see 'unity' among DJs where a proper journey is created from beginning to end, maybe starting prog and floaty, going on to full-on later. When this happens, intentional or not (some promoters try to book and place the right DJs at the right times as much as can be planned) , I know I've always been happiest.
Variety is necessary in a musical journey!

          Within this timeless gathering,
a shining light does dance,
lost from conscious memory,
but visible in trance!
