i dont think edge's words are very wise. If the guy was on heavily dosed up on drugs do you really think he made his decision from a normal perspective? How many fun times will he be missing out on in the future because the drugs clouded his vision and put f**ked up ideas in his head. What about his friends and family...putting them through this pain is not courageous... |

It's very sad what happened to him
But you can't blame it on the trance scene
As I said before, it happens in every scene: house, techno, rock etc.
And I won't answer about the doses and drugs, cause it's offtopic.

Timsensient: I respect you for disagreeing with me, but I just want to clear up that I don't think it is cool to kill yourself, nor do I have suicidal thoughts myself, quite the opposite. Life is a beautiful thing and it should be cherished. But what if there is nothing left to cherish? Is it better to go through life suffering and making yourself a burden on others? I feel that there is no difference between a 100 year-old man who can't find any more reason to live and is living artificially through tubes and machines, and that young man who decided that he didn't feel like dealing with life anymore. And I don't think drugs have anything to do with it. Sorry for the OT. |

Sorry to hear about your friend Eran, RIP.
I had a friend who was very close to that too. Came home after taking drugs and jumped from the third floor. Luckily he's fine.
Many people try to mix drugs and trance together, but are unaware that they co-exist, but not forced by each other (people will do drugs w/out listening to trance and people will listen to trance w/out doing drugs).
DDD - Don't do drugs. And if you do, have some friends you trust, who don't do it, to watch over you.

Eran, this is not the first time I've ever heard of something like this happening (someone taking some drugs and then killing himself). I met someone who told me about how his brother killed himself after a Radiohead concert, under the influence. I met another person who told me a friend of his hanged himself after taking LSD (after his girlfriend dumped him).
It's not the music, it's the drugs. People who take drugs (which are BAD, EVIL substances, as we all know ), they should do it responsibly according to McKenna's principles - set and setting. If you're not in the right state of mind, and the place has too many wrong vibes, DO NOT take drugs. A trip sitter for all of the people who are inexperienced and/or decided to take a high dose is also necessary. Stay away from dodgy stuff.
But don't blame the music. If anything, The Doors are probably responsible for more drug related suicides than Trance will ever be. People should just know what they're getting themselves into, and be prepared to handle it.
Responsible and intelligent drug usage will minimize the amount of bad trips, damages to people, whatever. Let me remind you that there's only 1 recorded incident in which someone was physically killed by LSD, and that's when he took 320,000 micrograms into his vein (that's the equivalent of an infusion of acid), something that people CAN'T do without access to a lab or a LOT of money.
The rest of the deaths could have (and should have) been prevented. |

eran, sorry about your friend.
it is clear from previous comments etc that we mostly (all?) have what may be termed a sensible attitude.
the problem in the uk is that people are told from a young age drugs are evil/bad so that when they try say dope or ecstacy and don't immediately expire they suddenly think everything they were told at school is rubbish. Hence i have known (well and not so well) a number of people go totally overboard with profound unpleasant effects for them. what is needed is better and more reasoned information from the state.

I totally agree with Asaf (kaz).
And I must add, well, happiness as a result of using any means necessary is not happiness.
A real happiness is one which comes from you, from the real you, from the inside of u, without needing anything to exist.
In other words, the drugs won't bring you happiness. Maybe some interesting experiences or what so ever but it won't make you 'happy'.
I guess you guys already know the influences and concequences of using drugs.
Do what is right for you.
Sorry to hear about your friend Eran, may he rest in peace.
cheers.

its not really to do with trance, like they say, ppl who listen to trance are hardly the only people who take drugs after all
but what had he taken exactly?
theres a difference between destroying your life with LSD or other drugs, for example
LSD can make you hallucinate and do dangerous things |

Eran, in short, don't lose faith in the trance scene. The people here will ALL be at your side. We offer our sincere condolenses, and hope that you'll feel better.
This is the real trance scene. We'd be totally innocent if we'd say there's no connection at all, between drugs and the trance scene (they are VERY easily available at parties, and people want to try), but the decision about drugs is of each person on his own.
The equation of:
"People who like trance" + "going to parties" = "drug usage"
is not true.
"people who want to take drugs" + "finding drugs at parties/wherever" = "drug use"
is much more accurate (excluding some experiments that the CIA did with LSD by adding some to people's drinks in a pub and the Electric Kool-Aid Acid Test, etc).
It's a choice that everyone makes - and I believe that everyone has a right to make. People just don't understand the implications of what they're about to do - they take that decision lightly. They see what they want to see, and sometimes, reality hits them in the face, HARD.
That is the bad side not of the trance scene - but of humanity itself. |

One should have the right to decide if one wants to live or not. BUT that desicion shouldn't be made while under influence. Drugs make us do stupid things, mostly harmless stuff, but sometimes things that can't be undone.
I personally think that drugs are okay if used by reasonable doses with knowledge. I for example enjoy on smoking a joint every once in a while before bed time. I don't know what it is, but my dreams are always so cool after some maryjane.
Well i'm starting to go a little offtopic here so here's my 2 cents:
Be smart, Don't start.
