ok, so i already lost a track because the file got damaged and i didn't have any backups, its a very frustrating situation as many of you probably know from experience...
in logic i had it setup to make 3 backups of the last saves and it helped me a lot in this situations...can i make the same in cubase? and how?
and about auto save? is there any auto save option in cubase? sometimes i forget to make a save, when working in a project for an hour or so, electricity goes down and i loose all the changes i've done wich is also a very frustrating experience...i know we should be savig all the time but soetimes i just don't remember to do it, so an auto save function could help me a lot...is it possible?
thanks in advance

auto save can be helpful.... but i usualy have it off.
if you make some kind of change that goes worse than it was in the begining, as it's in auto-save you just moved to somethin' bad!...
as backups i just save the track in a new folder (name of the track-backup) through the file menu option.
hope it helps

I've had a few cubase project files go corrupt on me too. Since then I regularly save my project to a new project file to minimise damage if the one I'm working with suddenly crashes. |

so it isn't possible to do severeal backups automatically for the last saves like you can do in logic? (in logic you can have up to the last 10 saves to be kept in a backup folder automatically..) |

Is there anything similar in cubase to the FL Studio "Export to Zip" option?
It's a really nice feature wich eases swapping projects from pc to pc: every file in the project is sent to a zip file (apart from VSTs DLLs...)

Ok.
If you press <ctrl><alt>-s you will save an incremental backup - a file with the same name but with a number on the end telling you how many of these you have saved. You can have as many of these as you want, and I tend to save a new backup fairly often, generally at least 30-40 per project. Auto-save can also be a lifesaver; my setup autosaves every 10 minutes, and used in conjunction with incremental backups it has meant that not only have I never lost more than 10 minutes work, I always have a previous version of the track to go back to if I need to.

i do that do...
nowadays it doesn't happen much but it has happen at least once to "destroy a whole project.. lololol
that's why i save a lot too... it's good to check when you feel you're loose the aim on the track too

colin is right, although i personally don't like the autobackups, make backups yourself... just name the projects track 1, track 2, track 3 etc. if u lose the last one, u can always start from the project before it... also handy to find a preset or something else, just in case u need it |

I am having similar problems with the waves plugins since I got a new computer. When I open some of my old songs and I try to open one of the waves plugins I get a white screen in the place where the plug in should be. And if I try to removed the plugins and put some new on top of them I get error message that the direct x did not release some items or something like that. But when I make new songs waves work properly. ANd timeworks millenium pack say that the plug in is not authorised but when I make a new song it works properly. Stupid plugins! |
