Check out Cosmosis's website, where he elegantly explains the difference between trance and diatonic (normal) music. Monotony is needed somewhere (preferably the in kick/bass department) if a trance-like state is to be induced in the listener and the name breaks obviously implies uh... breaks

I've read that article but the way I see it many have misunderstood his point.
Monotonic bass line in it self is NOT enough to induce a trans state. You can have monotonic bass line and have a boring, sleep inducing track instead of trans induction. The flow of the track is also important. Every kind of coherent repetition will be hypnotic and trans inducing as long as it has a certain vibe... a fluent pulse or as we more often call it groove.
Other elements can also be used to make that monotonic background... bass is only one solution.

i made a few unfinished tracks i called psy step or psy break,i used the beat, bassline, industrial ambience and abstraction of the dark step Dnb style with the fx and leads of psy underground trance ,it work really good , i m sure this style ll become more popular in the underground scene.some darkstep is already close to that kind of psytrance with the ambience sounds.i ll check the names you mentioned maybe it s this style too

You should pay more attention to reading and understanding what you've read. If after careful reading you still don't understand it I'll try to explain it to you on another level! OK?
