Right said man! If you need to use tones of fx-eq-comps in order to make smthng sound good, it's probably not worth the effort (not talking about the kick only but for many other elements too) imho always

you need to hear what s going on neer 50/40 hertz or it ll be a lot harder,you can use tools like freq analyser but it ll never replace your ears .if you want a good kick bass and your monitors cut at 50 hertz it s very very hard ...
