I would say with an EQ pretty simple..just lower the highs.. not?

i do not think you can avoid this..just lower the fader instead..works fine for me..and use velocity chenges on higher noters to avoid this harsh sounding notes..
just m2c

Use a shelf instead of a HPF if you really think there's too much bass in that range, then high pass on the master (or let the ME do it if it's to be released). I also suggest using a different EQ for basslines..sonnox eq isn't very good for individual tracks (imo).

i know what you meen.
its like once you cut @ 30hz there is way too much sub in that area. along with volume raising 2-3 db's.
since you said sonox i will eliminate the non-linear option.
i solve it usualy by:
1.shelf like kane just said. and maybe later HPF on master.
2.HPF more.. like 50hz or untill you get it back to normal. resonate 63hz or 50hz can give you great "fake" sub after cutting the lower freqs.
3.use waves Q 10 and add 12db filters on top of each other (colin like to do it on same freqs , i like on diffrent freqs)

Lower the resonance setting on your hi pass filter!
ok, serious now, try that first, if it does not work try Elads method... Upavas - Here And Now (Sangoma Rec.) new EP out Oct.29th, get it here:

Upavas, I don't think he's actually talking about resonance in the usual sense (i.e. q factor). If I'm not mistaken, his problem is that high passing around 40hz makes the rest of the low end a lot louder and dramatically alters the tone of the unattenuated freqs..
I rarely get a better bass sound by high passing the individual track...I think the key here is to either leave it alone or use a shelf if necessary, then high pass on the master to avoid headroom and aliasing problems.

Kane,
it does sound like the q factor is his problem...
the more poles you use in your highpass filter, the more frequency bump. say you have a high pass around 40hz that has a -18 db curve, everything just above 40hz, say up to 50 hz gets louder, due to the fact that you use such a steep cutoff. Better use a low resonance and maybe high pass at a little higher frequency to compensate. Or notch the frequency gain out...
They don't call it resonance (or q) for nothing...
