Avatar / Pro File present: 'Futuristic Poetry', the debut Orion album. Originally released on the late UK based Symbiosis Records, eventually the album has disappeared and was not available anywhere since mid. 1998. Now this exciting album is commercially available again for the first time seven years after. Orion consists of Jean Borelli and Mino Vaknin. A semi Danish / Israeli duo, what makes Orion sound most interesting and different. Both are based and operating from Copenhagen.

Jean Borelli is a respected DJ/producer and has been playing all over for the last decade. Jean Borelli is also known as half of Sheyba together with Kristian Thinning (Elysium aka Elysium Project). Borelli also has a previous project with Sid Shanti under the name Conspiracy Theory.
Mino is the other member that makes up Orion. A professional drummer with an experience of over 20 years in drumming, who toured with Fred Wesley (James Brown's trombonist), Mino is considered a master ! His live performance on stage is said to be astonishing and is something we don't get to see often. Mino has previous releases as Messiah and Hypnosis (Phantasm / Transient ).
The two are running other present activities: Jean Borelli together with Alien Project, and Mino a solo project under the same name with two impressing albums behind him.

The album includes 'Nazca Spider', with the rolling mega baseline that is simply a stormer! And the long remembered 'Rooster', a psychedelic party smash that was initially released as an EP with 'Akeru' on the B side, both are available here on the album.
'The Source', one of Orion's biggest hits is featured here in addition to an Elysium remix for the same track.
On this special Avatar edition all tracks have been fully digitally remastered and there is a bonus 9 min. killer, dancy tune titled 'The 8th'.

While I think the idea of making all those classic albums available is great (I myself bought Avatoar's "Violent Relaxation", "Fear of The Red Planet" & "progressive Trance"), I have to say a few words about your policy.

I don't like that you remaster all those CDs, because what you really do is you destroy the original sound that artists created. In most cases (Indoor & Orion) all you do is boost high frequencies in the mix, resulting in totally unpleasant and unbalanced sounds (I compared "your" remastered version with 2 other Orion's CDs I have). Those old tracks were relatively weak in bass, so it's easy to boost trebles without any distortions, but it makes them unlistenable on headphones, because those high sounds are 2-3 times louder than others. I personaly like most of my old CDs (pre 1998) because in comparison with today's CDs they sound warm and gentle. Few years back I could put on some of most violent tracks and still fall asleep (if that was my intention), but now it's imposible because of "professional mastering" that hurts my ears!

On the other hand on TE's "Violent Relaxation" you left track 8 of 1st CD as it was, event though it's twice as loud as the others. So, where was the mastering engineer there?!

To sum it up: I'm very grateful that you decided to release those CDs again (I definitely gonna buy Orion's CD, because now I got only mp3), but don't remaster them. Those CDs sounded exactly the way they were meant to sound and let's just leave it like that

Antic, thank you for your feedback.
Just for your information: Violent Relaxation was not remastered at all ! This is the exact master that Blue Room has used, so I really don't know what source your are holding... Most of our re-releases have been remastered by the artists themselves, in their studios, with their original sounds and professional ears ! Like Dreamfish by Pete Namlook himself and Indoor 'Progressive trance' by no other than Avi Algranati.
Enjoy mate.

to Avichay@Avatar:

Damn! That was quick!!!

Well, maybe you're right after all. I'm such a whore for old school sound . For me it all sounded better few years back, even though it was all badly produced compared to today's psytrance... And about Violent Relaxation - I meant that in that case a good mastering would be helpful, though only to equal all tracks, not to "improve" them...

I can understand your intentions too. I can imagine someone new to psytrance buying those CDs. He would be really surpirsed that the sound quality is so low. So infact you're doing right!

So, keep up the wonderful work!!!

PS. What about old Dragonfly stuff - Green Nuns, Shakta's or Pleiadian's first albums - I bet you'll find buyers for those (me included)
