I'm using Cubase 5.1, and I want to change some parameters in the effects I use, or turn them off or on during the track.
How do I do it?

Mike the way I do is use it as Send Effects and instead of turning the effect on or off in the insert which don't work with Write, just simply turn the knob from the send effects all the way to the left to turn it off... send effects also save a lot of memory and you can use only one fx for many other tracks...

open cubase
go to Panels > VST Send Effects
click on the drop down menu>
choose your effect...Reverb Eg.
turn on the red light in the send effects panel
select an audio channel go to its settings where you can see the EQ and the fader, beside the insert effect there is the send effects section with 8 of them... now it will display the Reverb in the send effect slot turn it on.. now the knob thing i explained it earlier

Is there any way to do it with insert effects?
For example change the amount of feedback I have on delay in the middle of a track?

you can use ohmboyz midi controlable delay..
and in standarts cubase effect plugins there is writable fader like mix in delays ,wet-dry in reverb
try it) |

Hi Mike...you can automate the the feedback of a delay through the write function...
Open the audio channel settings
turn on the write button, press play... records your effect's knob movements (they should be stored in the Audio Mix channel usually the computer creates that part in the very last channel at the bottom), you can treat this part like any other.. you can cut/paste, undo/delete it with the Write button OFF...etc...
now to hear the automation you recorded just simply press Read...
with the new cubase SX this will be a breeze with the editable graphic automation in the arrange panel...
good luck...
