So I've tried posting at cubase.net but I can never get anybody to respond to any of my post. I'm hoping somebody here can help me out since it seems that there are quite a bit of cubase users here.
I have a nord lead 2x set up as an external instrument in Cubase 4. I can play back my midi sequence perfectly fine with the desired patch. But I'm having trouble automating parameters such as OSC 2 semitones which doesnt play back properly. I can see the midi info being recorded while twisting the knob, but I when loop the section it just plays as if I haven't touched the semitones knob.
I do have automation read on as well. I can't quite figure out what is wrong. Does anybody have any ideas what the problem can be?
It hard to write music when I come across stupid stuff like this.... |

Thanks for the reply.
I downloaded MIDI-OX and it shows a signal coming from my input and output MIDI ports of my profire 610. As far as I know I have everything set up correctly in cubase 4. I go to device setup and it shows my MIDI in/out as being active in the MIDI tab.
I don't know if I'm missing something here. Or if I'm doing this wrong. I wouldn't call my self a professional with cubase, I've been messing around with it on and off for a few years now. But this is really the first time I've tried incorporating my external synth with any music I write.
Is there a specific method to go about when trying to automate external gear? |

Wish I could help u more but I dont have Nord nor Cubase 4, just good intentions here..
Did u route MIDI OX so when u send midi from pc out it bounces back to midi in on pc? Maybe the test wont do if u checked midi in and out seperately..
Probably nord has some MIDI CC table and that u should use to send CC to it but that would mean u would have to draw automation manually, which is no good..
Which type of automation your nord uses, is it send via sysex data?
Have u tried to search for some editor for your nord? I dont know but maybe discoDSP VST can be used as control editor, Im not sure about that..

I have it figured out. I messed around with the nord for a bit and it turns out switching the global midi channel on the synth took care of the problem. Thanks you for the help though! I appreciate it. |
