How can I turn an insert effect on and off using automation in cubase?
Sending down the mix to 0% is not a solution, thanks

It doesn't record it as automation.
It records anything but the on/off thing.

i know for a fact that i cannot do this in nuendo.
i'm surprised they did not fix this when releasing sx, but if you say you havent managed to do it in the obvious way, i would take this as reason to be certain that they didnt.... and that therefore the answer is simply "you cant".
it really, really sucks - one of my top annoyances in nuendo. the only workarounds i know involve either changing the mix (which u say is not an option), or else using multiple channels, one with the insert on it, one without (although obviously this is sometimes a real pain, if you have 3 other inserts on the channel for example it forces you to waste cpu by having them twice! unless of course you can get clever with group channels and such...)
but anyway, the short answer - no can do

well, since insert effects are controlled by knobs, you can turn them on and off using automation of the knob, no?

>> It records anything but the on/off thing
believe him!
btw the SOS article is talking about VST5, where the automation worked very differently to SX

Jason - the on & off button is not a "knob". A solution in your style would be the mix option - which is not an option
I finally solved it using Send Effects, which I hate but I have no other way to make it.

hey mike A
im having a problem with this also i used reason before and there its so easy to do it and i used it all the time , the best thing to do witch is close to this is too use the bypass in the mixer the problem thats it turns off all the effects not one specifice effect but its good to make silence in a short place so the reverb and delay dont continue. which is the reason i use it mostly anyway |
