Good Evening everyone!

To start with I have to say that I am in love with australian didjeridu! My first contact to the music was about 2 years ago I saw some guys playing it in the streets here in Brazil. It is definately not well-known here in my country, though.

I have several questions to ask you... I dont know where else to ask and my questions have relation with trance (so it's not too )

1st: I want to start to play it! Is it hard? How hard? How can I learn it?

2nd: I need to buy a didjeridu and i dont know where or how. No way i'm going to find one here in Brazil! But, my best friend lives in London and he can get one for me. What should he look for? Where? How much is it (approximately)?

3rd: Give me some recommendations of cd's! In the last festival i went to, here in Brazil, many artists played the didjeridu at the chill-out and it was amazing!!!

Best wishes!

hi man : )

firstly, until you can secure your very own didj, you can use even a decent piece of PVC pipe, plastic pipe, or even [to some extent] a metal or aluminium pipe!! of course NOTHING on this planet resonates like wood will, but some of these alternate didj's can produce really different timbres/colors/sounds hehe

then... [not a pro mind u] place your mouth AGAINST the top end and keep your lips fairly tight, and then force air through them, also try blowing ur cheeks out.... this *should* get you the 'drone' sound... you'll probably get a fair amount of drool down the pipe ha!

the wikid 'whiiirs' and 'barks' that good players get is done by using your vocal chords while still blowing.

PRACTICE... also, Good players use circular breathing... have u heard of this?? IMO its probably the hardest part of it all... quick breaths in through the nose while still blowing out the mouth!! you can practise this with a straw and a glass of water LOL!! [ i do hehe ]

again, i'm no pro, but hope it helps : )

ciao
