now for the aurora mini review (too much to tell and too many dirty details for a full review... )
lets start by saying that Theo has done an incredible job orgenising this event, making sure that ppl will be there, will have a good time with comfort and safety , without police (amazing for greece...) and with no fights and bad vibes. for a first big event it was amazing. i'll start by saying that from the artists point of view we had a really good time in Greece, many of us came for a few days and had lovely vacations in a great area of Greece. i dont know what was the deal with Tikal but i do know that all the artists that played got payed and were well taken care of... except for a couple incidents of finding hotels rooms in the middle of the night for late comers all went more or less smoothly. there was no chance that everything will be ticking 100% all the time with such a big lineup so overall it was as well orgenised as any big event ive been to.
i heared complaints about the line up being not on time... true but i know that some of the changes were done due to changes in flight times of artists and due to the changes that had to be made to the deco and shade that forced a break of a few hours. I think that the shade for the dancefloor was the biggest mistake on the organisational level... i mean it looked nice but shade wize it didnt do the job... not in that heat....
about the artists cancelations - 95% of the intended line up was there and played. most of the big names were there... so stop bitching ppl...
the sound - was perfect. big, clear and loud. i heared a coplaint that the volume was too low cuz u could talk normaly to your friends on the dancefloor.... the answer to this is that when the sound is clear it doesnt matter how loud it is - u will still be able to hear yourself think and talk to ppl without breaking your vocal cords... 100K of JBL Line Aray is a loud system.... we were in the farthest hotel from the fest... about 10 kilometers across the bay and we heared it boom boom booming across the water all day... and night
the music - sucked big time... except Klopfgjkbtfdkjder.....
im kidding off course... the combination of days filled with Prog and nights of full on was excelent... there was no dark trance at nights so the atmosphere was nice and positive all the way... i wont start naming the good sets, or the bad sets (not to mention the ugly sets... ) but i can say that most of what I heared there i liked... i will say that Yotopia's new set, Rambo's (sorry i mean Rocky) killa set and Midimal's exelent set were the highlights of the fest for me.
what else....? dust...? heat...? ppl looking for something to smoke....? what do u ppl want? its August in Greece... if u cant take it stay at home with the AC on full and dont come again... it wasnt so dusty anyway... one desert party in Israel u will know what is DUST... this was not more then a little dusty in my standards...
anyway i know for a fact that all lessons will be learnt for Aurora 2009 and non of the small mistakes will b repeated.
