Hi friends,
It is a great relief to see so many posts with positive comments for this fest…I think it has been too long since a Greek gathering aroused such a generally good vibe and we all know how much we needed this to happen!

Ok, everything was not ideal and convenient…but hey…the effort and the risks were enormous and we all know what this means. So beyond the usual stuff that ppl would reasonably complain about (facilities/dust/prices/timetables etc), WE SHOULD NOT FORGET THAT THIS WAS A COP-FREE FESTIVAL and that alone is a major fact that contributed to its success. It is my turn to congratulate the organizing team and all the ppl who were involved one way or another in it, I guess and wish that they are wise enough to evaluate their experience, reconsider the mistakes, read the reviews and make the best out of it for any future projects.

SO LET’S GET TO THE MUSIC BECAUSE MUSIC AND ONLY MUSIC IS THE MOST IMPORTANT THING HERE!

I didn’t spend much time at the main stage but from what I heard and saw, I’m having great memories from Klopfgeister, Tristan, Hallucinogen, Solar Fields, Chromosome/Andromeda and Ear Sugar.

*I fully enjoyed my Wizzy friends at another super bombastic AND REAL live act as always and I’m so proud that this duo gives a meaning to the word live.
*Also I do remember the moment that Pause entered the stage and doomed the dancefloor in just a few seconds, the crowd went crazy dancing and for a moment it seemed that the two Greeks were caught surprised by the warm welcome!

*Filteria was a nice old school psychedelic surprise.

*I’m very sorry that I missed Krama, man if you read this, I am a big fan of your music and your latest work is unbelievable. You have all my respect because you cracked your ass running and managing the main stage like a hero

As for the chillout stage where I’ve spent 80% of my time, here’s my little highlight’s report

*Taj did a great opening with an uptempo set at 130bpm and a restless mood that suits a such wicked guy…cheers!
*A Nasa set is always a pleasure to the ears and that particular one had 2-3 tracks which were awesomely rousy and fussy.

*Simon Baring is a true punk and very open minded person. A very nice minimal tech set.
*Aes Dana did a very powerful live, Vincent was teasing the kicks like a master, really blew our minds. His set was also great but the lack of shade under 35C when he played, dragged all his precious energy and almost left him unconscious at the last 30min. I felt very sorry for him…such an artist did not deserve this.

*Nova & Huva Network were a guaranteed satisfaction! I heard many unreleased tracks, bless them!
*Indra’s set very warm and sweet and performed at the right time.
*The Ultimae mama Mahiane gave a set with many vocals and she had always a smile on here face. A true lady and a professional.

*Cell simply turned the darkness into light and rocked all of us (including the old trees that were throwing many many leaves!). His last track seemed to last forever, was sth like 25min and still echoes in my mind!
*I Awake was a nice surprise to me, I didn’t know that the man was so good and I believe he is fairly involved within Ultimae.

*CBL gave us a pure ambient aura and 2-3 very very interesting downtempo tracks with a Nordic morning style. Excellent.
*Younger Brother was an amazing set with top notch music selection, while as Shpongle he jumped from one style to other like Tarzan and gave us many flashbacks, including that Age Of Love anthem. Ppl just love him.

*Terra 9 was very special with a live violin that left us startled, such performances are not to be missed but I have the slight impression that the time was not suitable.
*I think that when Vibrasphere saw the sea in front of their eyes, they probably recalled their “Archipelagos” and did a genius chilldub live with many horns! Masters.

*IXOR surely made one of his best performances. Full fresh unreleased tunes awesomely accompanied by Vlassis playing analog bass. Themi, I’m sure that many serious labels will give a battle to release your second album! All the best!
*Direct Connection was pure madness, a real Band with capital B, very good synchronization and rhythm and a fantastic show.

*For me, these last artists (Terra 9, IXOR, Vibrasphere, Direct Connection) performed LIVE 100% if you know what I mean.

I hate to spoil those beautiful memories I’ve kept from the chillout stage, but because I always like to speak the truth in this forum, I’m very very sorry to second something that has already been mentioned about the greek djs. With no offense intended, I can only remember a guy JuniorX (I think he belongs to the Nats family) that played some interesting tunes. Most of the others used the same copylike recipe. Also, many of them did not support the stage at all, they just did their hour and never showed up again. What kind of an attitude is that???

So I will just quote Tasos_NOtrea’s words and say nothing more:

My big complain is the chill out stage. We have to learn in Greece that chill out stages at foreign festivals are such important as the main stages which means : Very good and loud soundsystem-very poor sound at chill stage,A big tent providing a big shade during the daytime-There were some trees and a chaishop but sure they didn't worked as the sound was not enough loud and those trees were a little far, last about the music almost all the Greeks that I had the chance to listen played something like a tribute to Entheogenic and all those comercial chill out, there are and other music styles that could be played like dub,dubstep,breakbeat,idm,minimal/deep techno...

I will say it again to the organizers you put some greek djs to play chill out when they don't have any idea about chill out music, just because they are known djs in dance territory but sure no experience for chill out.Now another mistake you put all the greeks to play first and then the international. You could mix the greeks with internationals so they could have the chance to play for a biger audience than 10-20 people..Sure I am refering for those greek djs who realy deserve it,those who made the difference and they didn't play just some "amanedes"

Finally, I would like to greet all the friends and smiley faces I met there, plz support the chillout stage of the greek festivals, because ONLY if you keep demanding for things like you do with the main stage, then the organizers will start thinking seriously about it! Chillouts are not only for rolling
Also, allow me to dedicate my set to my wife and little daughter and son to be born in a few days, and the xtra dj set at the chai shop on Monday morning to the victims of the plane accident in Spain.
Peace to all of you

PS: cool wristband, uh?

A few words to thank all the people we saw at Aurora Festival and who were so friendly to us. Now we are full of energy to continue the year 2008 with Suntrip, and further!

Thanks to the Aurora team for delivering such a great festival with so many great artists and definitely thanks to the Ultimae crew who are the most friendly family we've ever met and who made the Ambient stage so special over these 4 days.

I can't resist to talk about our Artist, Filteria, that played there on the last day: I bet those who were on the dancefloor suring his live act will never forget it, for it was a phenomenal performance full of new and remixed supermelodic tracks with a now rock-solid production! The outstanding audience feedback gave him much motivation to complete his 3rd album. Thanks again for him.

What can we add, except maybe..."see you next year!"

The festival was great the place was great so what else from congratulations to organizer[s]? !
People do not get jealous when some make it and some not.
The only complain with some small mistakes that we are sure next year will be fixed was that organization did not paid much attention to the chill out stage [no lights at all in the whole area-no black lights-they tried to put some the last night]and also the sun burned some artists like aes dana when he performed...
as for Tasos notification that greeks played a tribute to ethneogenic i say that not all did that
and Alkan ruler 's that greek djs never showed
up to the chill stage after their perfomance i say that some of us were 100% there all the time...
i speak as fishimself dj i speak represneting the freeze magazine that we liked the festival we liked the no cop appearance we liked the nature and everything and we think that some greek djs played much better than some djs from abroad but thats another point..

all in all bravo to the organizers and if they correct some mistakes of this year then ...

Sure an alternative stage stage providing both chill out and dance alternative styles would be great. In fact it's a must

Ahoia!

Trippin' into a world that never seems too far away. Too much time, too many wasted acts because of sleep.

Thanks to Teo, thanks to all involved in this gathering of nations, cultures, different music visions, atmospheres! Thanks to all artists who played and sorry for those who did not played :/ To those who played - you made something very special for so many people. Don't give up! People deserve you! And you deserve the people!

I'm wishing you more events like this one, and I'm wishing you even bigger Aurora 2009!

PS:(for the record: somebody stole my sleeping bag:))
