Thank you for your input. Besides the pitch, hows the kick and bass sound? |

Don't audit your kick and bass solo only, try with some percussion at least. There are basslines that cut through the mix very well, but may not sound fantastic on its own.
The sounds are good, maybe try with a less high-freq kick, a bit more subby with lower pitch. |

what he said. slug definitely comes to mind as a top example. on good speakers, the kick and bass are often super seperated, but god does it ever cut through the mix.

hey guys, saw my name pop up here. i definitely agree that the listening to the bass on its own is not that helpful. i do solo kick and bass often to check their "interaction", but in the end it's how everything all works together that determines if its "right". and i dont really feel ive got it "right" except on maybe 10% of my tracks. ever. |

for sure brother... many dark psychdelic tracks are like that... no sustain and release... the bassline just keep the trance ritm
most of the times, in this kind of composition, there's a lot of pad and atmosphere
the kick and bass don't mass up with the mix |

i think you are balanced too much in the mids , imo boosting the low is not the solution but maybe scooping the mids or working on the sources,
it s sound like the energy is not at the good octave to me , i just moved my speakers so it could be that ,maybe i have a big null somewhere in the low ? |

i think ur kick and bass dont fit well together.
shift the kick a few octaves lower. mayb some better eq as well
ur bass has some long notes i think.... shorten dem up a lil bit... also the volume of the bass u can vary it a lil bit... while u have the longer notes playin jus lower the volume of those notes a bit so it fits in better....also the decay mayb shorten a lil bit and sustain as well with 0 attack and 0 release.
tell me if it helps!! |
