Hey Pavel.
I have this one, and I really like it. But I don´t have any hardware synth, so I can´t tell u about midi latency...
But I can tell u, I have a P3 256. Before I buy the card, I couldn´t use Cubase. Now I can use with 20 tracks(10 midi/10 audio). The sound quality is very very good, and I´m sure this card worth of buying if you´re loking for pro quality, with amateur proce.

Well i'm really close on buying this one.
Two question before i open the wallet:
1. There are 2 versions of the card. PCI and USB.
Some ppl complained that USB is not stable enough for audio and that it's a recipe for pops and clicks.
2. The price is surprisingly the same for both as i see from Israeli vendors site (1400 Shekels) whilst in US the prices are 200$ for PCI ver. and 250$ for the USB version...
The Dynamic range in the USB version is bigger because it's isolated from the noisy PC environment and the AC power is stabler than the PCI voltage. So, i'm pretty much confused right now.
Suggestions?

PCI -
it should be less noisy actually when u place it on the last slots.

Nope, definately PC is the noisiest environment in my room.
I have a TV card that i really like to use from time to time and it's makes really unhealthy noises. If i'll see that the USB is stable enough i'd better get it instead the PCI version.

hey man
well this is my experience:
i own audiophile 24/96 PCI and just love it, good latency, logic silver runs smooth with a decent buffer size (80% of my work is midi/vst) no noise at all but i leaved 2 pci slots free between my pcmcia reader card and the audiophile... in my opinion its an exelent card but could be better is m-audio added a dsp chip on it...
on the other side ive worked in some friends studios whose own usb hardware (m-audio quattro and event ezbus) and they always have some kind of issues, asio drivers not found, making noises, whatever..
i rather to get pci instead usb if i were in your shoes....
P.S. here in mexico luna 2 card is getting cheaper and its a better card than audiophile... got o your nearest musician's friend store and take a look, maybe for 50/60 usd you could get a better card...

m-audio cards are great... i have the 1010 which is kinda like 10 of those cards lined up in one box. latency is great. audio quality is great.
about the USB - personally I would avoid this to be honest
about the nosie - you know that the noise you HEAR your pc make is totally irrelevant. the reason the pc might make the card 'noisier' is electrical interference, not acoustic noise. anyway... personally i think I'd go for PCI but I'm not really expert enough to say with any great authority

Thanx for the tip, they are appreciated
solipt1c--> why the hell do you need 10 inputs?
Can't see any logical reason you should use that much ins/outs unless you have tons of outboard gear that you like to send channels to them to process.
But hey, if you can afford it, enjoy it
BTW, when i said noise i referred to RFI/EMI which are Radio Frequency Interferences/Electro Magnetic Interferences that emit noises to your PCI card and damaging the SNR and Dynamic Range.
To protect the cards from that damage companies use expansive shielding techniques that add price to the systems.
And offcourse there are the VGA monitors that have a switch unit in them that radiate additional electric field that can enter to microphones or guitar peak-ups.
Not to mention the fans on the PC board and the Conditioner and the neighbours with their godamn Moshik Afia music all day long.
Phew, i have to get therapy soon!

Pavel - I have a 10 piece live band (mostly dnb and breakbeat, with some 4/4, mixed up with folk, jazz, rock and all sorts of stuff - www.keiretsu.org.uk) and we record our own albums at home... So its helpful to have that many channels for recording, say, a drumkit.
You're definitely right, there is absolutely no need for this under any normal circumstances!

Wow man, looks interesting...
I'll check the tracks that you kindly shared on the site.
Looks very interesting indeed.
I wonder what kind of space you use for record all the players at the same time. Or do you records them all live?

well, we never record the whole band playing at once. except for when we record our live gigs... but for that we just plug a minidisc into the main desk tape outputs
usually its just one person at a time, or sometimes 3 - for example i prefer to record the entire horn section together, as it helps their tuning and timing to play simultaneously. this is 3 mics (one on each instrument).
the only thing that would ever get close to requiring 10 channels would be a drumkit... unfortunately we dont own that many mics, so we just use one for kick, one for snare/hat, and two overheads = four total.
so as you can see I havent actually used all 10 channels at once yet, only four so far. However... I got some unexpected money (inheritance) to spend on my studio setup, so I thought it would be better to buy "future-proof" than just buy a 4-channel soundcard and have to buy a new one if we ever afford more mics!
sooo... as for the space... just our bedrooms usually! we also have a kinda vocal booth (covered in rugs and carpet) amateurishly constructed in our hallway

I've got the audiophile 24/96, it a great card, has the same engine and quality as all the other delta cards (10/10, 4/10), the only problemis only having 1 stereo input (2 monos), i'm using 2 sinths so i've got to be changing all the time i want to change sinth, wich is really boring!
but it works just fine, its a great first buy soundcard, i'm really happy with it.
if you have a desktop I would recomend to get the pci instead of the usb...

I bought the 24/96 about 2 months ago, and I really like it... I have only used it to record stuff from my vcr to my computer... (Sample jacking the old fashioned way) But it is a decent card and I only paid $150 for mine. I bought it at a Guitar center store in San Francisco... I have noticed a small latency issue with using a midi controller keyboard with it (Oxygen 8) but nothing that changing your settings won't cure. I would definitely recommend getting the PCI slot version though, there is a major bandwith issue when using the USB interface. When I hooked my sound card to my dj mixer, I did notice a noise issue... I am not too sure how to fix that, would installing the card more toward the bottom of my PCI slots help the situation? I am thinking about replacing my fan with one of those ultraquiet ones...
