Hey guys,

Would like to know if anyone here has ordered audio gear from ebay, and how was their experience in regards to custom duties if they had to pay any.

I know that some of you may suggest buying from Indian music dealers like Shalu etc. but if one can get a good deal on ebay why not !!

Peace

Friends have had experiences with buying stuff like pen drives and HDD's. Either they never worked or they conked off after sometime. The seller usually isn't contactable then.

just beware of vendors based in china. otherwise ratings are a good way to check reliability. ebay is a marketplace like any other so you're going to find all kinds... just have to be smart about where and what you're ordering. have picked up some great 2nd hand hardware from there.

this thread has some useful links for vendors in India...

Thank you guys for your views and links, but it would be great to hear from someone whose ordered something like a midi-controller from ebay or online stores like Sweetwater or other overseas stores

In the link provided by @LiquidFrequency I read @Yidam mentioning "If its soundcards and headphones I suggest ordering online and having them mailed to you. Duty shouldn't be a problem with those. "

Cheers !!

I continously buy all my gear from Ebay , either brand new or 2nd hand , all in all i bought around 7 items ranging from synths to soundcards and have never had a problem even once either with it not working or any other issues with delayed delivery etc. In most cases of claiming warranty with new stuff you need to incur shipping costs one way , they usually pay for shipping when they send back.Incase of customs you can always ask the seller to declare the value of the item much less then it is. Check the sellers feedback before bidding , and paypal is the best way to pay always.

Ebay is great!!
